  1. Chicago in the Winter League right now. Main line LD: 5 Steve Smith RD: 7 Chris Chelios LW: 22 Christan Ruuttu C: 27 Jeremy Roenick RW: 28 Steve Larmer For penalty kill/injury, I go to the best guy available for reserves, on defense usually Bryan Marchment, on forward either Brent Sutter or Joe Murphy. I also make sure Larmer is on the PK, so if Ruuttu takes a penalty, I just put Larmer on LW and if Larmer takes a penalty, I don't make changes.
  2. ...KGMan has lost the championship. The universe shall implode now. Anyway, congrats on the win. Upset of the year. So, Mr. Marc, how do you feel about winning the championship and besting the seemingly unbeatable KGMan? Who do you think will win the GENS B championship? Are you considering running for a coaching position on a professional hockey team? </reporter>
  3. To control the goalie, hold the button you assigned to B for a few seconds. C is save attempt, the other two are normal controls - hitting B will change to a normal player on defense, pass on offense. You can break the crowd meter easily by having a two player game. Score a goal, then give the other team the puck and just get goalie control and mash C. If you want a game to practice on Gens, AIM me at Lord Setar - I suck, so I should be easy meat for you.
  4. Bettman hates it when goal production drops by .3 goals per game. He needs to rearrange the Canucks if he wants that to increase.
  5. The border cities of Buffalo and Detroit are huge for hockey, likely because people can just cross the Detroit River from Windsor to get to Detroit or cross Lake Erie to get to Buffalo. And of course, Detroit is nicknamed "Hockeytown." I seriously hope Pittsburgh get moved back to Canada, Canada needs more teams. A team in Winnipeg would be amazing, maybe if Chicago could get moved to Hamilton it would be good (From what I hear, Chicago's owner is s**t and doesn't promote the team). Maybe a team in the Maritimes might help as well.
  6. Genesis version, I usually kill the AI. SNES AI is harder though, I tend to get in close games against Boston with Chicago.
  7. Nedved and Diduck are actually quite underrated - they're better even in game than their ratings show. Kelly Hrudey is usually rated around a 58, yet he's amazing.
  8. After a couple upsets, I went through my picks and checked how people did in the previous round as well as their record in the season, especially against the team they were playing, and re-evaluated them all. Mostly I didn't find anything wrong, but I saw a couple doubts here and there and changed a couple according to what I looked at, and I looked at the previous round as well as season records for this round as well. I don't really have a good measuring stick as I haven't played many of these coaches or seen them play, so I pretty much have to pick what looks best on paper, and for the second round I got a bit lazy.
  9. The goal horn in that sucks too, as does the music and sound and the attempt at commentary. There was a hockey game for NES as well, now that was good. Except that the goalie worked like a Pong paddle moving up and down.
  10. Chicago is the best without line changes. Chicago's got a good front line as long as you put in Sutter or Ruuttu instead of Goulet, not to mention the second best defenseman in the game in Chris Chelios, the unstoppable combo of Larmer and Roenick (Larmer can really work in Gens, either zip a quick pass to JR for the one-timer or carry it on his own) and of course the Eagle in net. With line changes, Quebec. Quebec are extremely well rounded - a starting line of Leschychyn, Duchesne, Sakic, Sundin and Nolan, Ricci, Gusarov, Kamensky and Foote making up a good second line core, and a good goalie backstopping an already strong defense with Ron Hextall. Honorable mention to LA - great first line and some good defensive depth as well as a bit of offensive depth and not one but TWO good goalies - however, Kelly Hrudey is VASTLY underrated in this game, but Robb Stauber is a good backup. LA lack the kind of depth Quebec have and just aren't as all-around dominant on top line as Chicago, though. Also honorable mention to Buffalo with a great first line core and two good goalies in Fuhr and Hasek, but a lack of depth and defense severely hurt them. Another honorable mention absolutely HAS to go to Boston with their dominant first line containing three all-stars with Neely, Oates and Bourque, Sweeney and Wesley give good defensive options, but their goaltending isn't really up to scratch even behind their defense. Pittsburgh have great top-two line depth with Tocchet, Mullen, and Francis, but lack defensive depth to back up a great pair in Samuelsson and Murphy - their goalie is above-average, but a lack of defensive depth without the amazing goaltending of Montreal or Chicago can hurt. . One final honorable mention to Vancouver - amazing first line dominance with Ronning, Bure, Courtnall, Lidster and Lumme, good depth with Nedved, Linden and Diduck, a good goalie in McLean but lacking the kind of full-dominance of Chicago again, and not quite the depth of Quebec.
  11. Just updating this topic to the most recent series result.
  12. A third person would be best, I did that for the first four games of hokkeefan vs. angryjay.
  13. I'd get a computer one if I could, but sadly, I don't live ten minutes' walk from Radio Shack anymore.
  14. I use a keyboard but want to move to controller, however, I'm a bit shy about asking my mom to get me an adapter online.
  15. It's the User Records option, I think to add the extra two teams for the 30 Team ROM wboy had to go into the user records data.
  16. How to stop the crease-cut: Manual goalie. Manual goalie will 99% of the time stop crease-cuts. The auto goalie will go down really early and leave an open net, but with manual you don't need to go and make a save, just stay with the puck carrier.
  17. Do you live in Vancouver? We're expecting up to a foot tonight.
  18. You can play it in advance and record the scores like BSDaemon and hokkeefan did O_o
  19. Hey, I'm fifteen and plan to enter in spring. Then again, I have like no life. Evan has disproved this rumor, and so does the fact that there was a Pittsburgh/Hartford series. What do we need to do, have it on MythBusters?
  20. What you do is in NOSE, set the players on the NLC line to Hex 0 and leave the goalie as is on the team you want to use. Then you select your teams, make sure you have manual goalie on, and start a game. Alternatively, you can make the entire starting line the starting goalie, then when you start the game get a stoppage of play and the game will realize it has six of the same guy, so it will cause all of the skater-goalies to disappear and leave the one goalie. However, you have to get a stoppage of play every period, as it will put the top line out at the beginning of each period and then "fix" it after a stoppage. Best way to stop it is to score so you can win the game.
  21. Well, make sure it's on two player, and with the buttons you have mapped to player two, have one player on the other team just do laps of their own zone, and just hammer the button you have mapped to save. You'll hear the crowd noise rise a bit, and when you check the crowd meter, it will have gone up.
  22. I was messing around with lines in NOSE, and I decided to try putting goalies in skater positions. It worked, but when I put my starting goalie in, it would have my starting goalie in goal and skating until a stoppage of play, when the game would realize I had the same player in two positions and would rectify it by putting the player in one position (in this case, goal) and leaving the other position unattended. I then tried putting a skater in net, but the game didn't recognize the skater as a goalie and simply put my starting goalie in net. Also, when a goalie-skater scores, it registers the same as if a goalie in net scores or is credited with a goal. Furthermore, the player stats will not show goals scored by goalies, but the goalie stats page seems to go weird, seemingly randomly distributing stats for the goalies. This maybe think - maybe we could have a "reversed" three-on-three league, or two-on-two league where the two/three skaters are players who would normally be goalies and the goalie is someone who would normally be a skater. Stats don't change, except setting the stats a player has active that NOSE says to leave at zero for goalies.
  23. Tried it, it glitched when I was cycling through the player hot/cold stuff and froze.
  24. ^Hold the change player button when on defense, and make sure that you set the goalie to Manual Goalie not Auto Goalie.
