Awesome, Coach!  Great job!  Can't wait to try them out.  Especially the WBF CLlassic one! (I mean, being WBF it is going to be like what must have been really intended? Time for Pittsburgh to shine!)

NIce Work!!! Way above  and beyond the call of duty!  Heck, I am going to try my hand at Maple Leafs vs Charleson CPU right now, WBF style! Clark is gonna kick ass!!!!

Wow, I played a 7 game series TOR vs Charleston!!! I won 4-2!  That is right, the CPU won 2 games!

This is way better than playing crap teams against CPU Chi with my goalie pulled, and all the other weird things I used to do to get a decent CPU game.

Also, I can't believe, again, how amazing the AI is in this ancient game.  The juiced defense in unbelievable, and some of the one timers the CPU forwards score are outrageous.  One of these juiced teams should have been in the original game.  Makes the replay-abilty so much higher...

I agree great to hear Aqua.

I have some more ideas for juiced teams.

I also think that 105 (max) rated Goalies are far better than Belfour at 98 for some reason.

The tricky part was finding the right shooting bias (roughness) in the ETB rom I just juiced everything so it was at 6 as well and all the Chiefs and Bulldogs did was shoot.  No Passing.  In this one everything but shooting bias is juiced and it is set at 2.  Thanks for the feedback.  Sounds like they are passing more.

I am actually going to post my series on NHL94rocks.com and you can see the stats.  Without looking, I think they pass as much as a human, and check much better.  THey also take more shots and one timers.

And yeah, goalies are way better than Belfour.  On normal CPU, I score about > 80% of my dekes, but on the juiced goalies, it is more like 20%.  When I am lucky enough to make it to the net, that is!! Really loving the games, Coach!  Seriosuly!

Awesome, I am going to pursue and even better Solitaire rom.

Any suggestions on Computer Player Awareness?

I thought about making the D-Men or 1 d-Man like 2 OA and 6 DA instead of 6/6 to make them even tougher to score on.

Do you think that would matter?

Maybe make the Forwards 6/4 Awareness and the 2/6?

Or just leave them 6/6?

Sounds like the change in shot bias really helped.

I don't know enough about OA and DA effects... (I think people disagree about what they do, no?)  So I can't give advice there. :(  I have read that having DA higher than OA makes for stay at home D-men, but I am not really sure?  But whatever makes the D-men stay back, that will be the prferred setting. (I feel like it is good already, but when the stats are up on nhl94rocks, we will see if the D-men get points or not...)

I will say because the guys are so quick and heavy, and check so well, the D is tough as is.  I think I did start to figure out how to skate around them as I kept playing, but if they get near you, you will wind up on your butt.

Similarly, when I was first deeking against the goalie, I was not scoring, where I usually do against CPU.  I found I have to hold the puck longer and shoot more obliquely to have a chance to score on a deke.  Most of my goals are coming on classic slap shots, like when Clark skates right to left, and does his hard left handed slap shot from 15 feet out.  One timers for me are rare so far, but do happen.

I get most of my goals in this order, most to least:
1. slappers from skating across net
2. dekes
3. one-timers
4. glitchy goals

I include glitchy goals because I have yet to score more than 5 or 6 goals in a game, and usually score 2 or 3, so I appreciate a glitch here and there where some funny rebounds or bobbling happens...

I have now included a 3rd Version for Solitaire Play.

I have replaced the Wales and Campbell All-Star Teams with a Juiced 1960's and 1970's All-Star Team.
So there are now 4 juiced teams.

Each of the 26 Original Teams has Playoff Tree Set up where they will have to defeat all 4 juiced teams to win the Cup.
Campbell Conference Teams will open with the Chiefs, then play the 1960's, 1970's, and finally the Bulldogs in the Finals.
Wales Conference Teams will open with the Bulldogs, the play the 1960's, 1970's, and finally the Chiefs in the Finals.

Can you defeat:
Ogie Oglethorpe and the Syracuse Bulldogs, the Charlestown Chiefs led by the Hanson Brothers, the 1960's All-stars led by Gordie Howe, and Bobby Orr and the 1970's All-Stars?

Can you go 16-0?

With the Ducks?

I don't think so!:haha:

Ha, sounds good, Coach.

I just played Leafs vs Charleston again, and swept them.  Sort of discovered an easy-ish way to score in the last game.  Just do a classic crease cut.  Even that juiced goalie flops like a moron and leaves a yawning cage.  When I play solo I am going to avoid doing this cheap move to keep it fun.

Also got better at the deke and one timers.  Scoring on 40% of dekes now.

Love thse ROMs!

Just updated the rom to change the Original 26 from weak to brutal on the road.

All juiced teams are strong/strong and Originals are weak/brutal

Did some major updates to these.
You can now try and recreate the 1980 Miracle on Ice with my 1970's Rom.
Play against the Fully juiced Russians.
Also more challeging Playoff modes against juiced teams from the 60's, 70's, Slapshot, and of course the Russians.
Also new player cards for Russians.
Still not as challenging as I'd like but I am making some progress.

Best Challenge is to try USA vs Russia, Chiefs, Bulldogs in Playoff Mode!

The mix of history (capturing the look and feel of an era) and fantasy (creating a new mix of years and a new solitaire experience) is a work of art!

Thank you!

I am glad you are enjoying them.
And appreciate what I am trying to create.

I love making them.
It is like a walk thru history for me.

I have some more features and ideas coming down the pipe.

The game is much more fun to play against the computer now.
