  1. Hey, guys. I've been thinking about running a new league for a while now. The basic premise I've come up with is this: before the season, you don't start off with any players on your roster. In order to get players for your roster, you have to be the first person to find a specific "player card" for each player-- all of which I've hidden across America. It's basically like The Amazing Race, Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?, and GDL combined. To give you a better idea, here are some examples.... Jeremy Roenick: Donald Trump (Location Unknown) Jeremy Roenick is the most coveted player in the game and it seems apt that his card would be trusted in the hands of a man like Donald Trump. I've given the card to him and he will carry it with him at all times until somebody finds him. You've already started by calling Trump's office; you've left messages with his secretaries-- but no one is calling you back. You've been stonewalled. Is Raph up to this? You know that Raph has connections, but do they go all the way up to Donald Trump? You can't be sure. You fly out to New York City and camp out in front of Trump Tower. It may take days, but you figure that sooner or later Trump will have to walk through those doors. You've camped out for two days, waiting. Finally, a lucky break-- out from the doors of Trump Tower walks Ivanka Trump. She's even more beautiful in person than you imagined. You approach her and demand to know where Donald is-- you need to find him; he has Roenick! But a bad stroke of luck-- little did you know that Ivanka has been sleeping with Icestorm. Icestorm seduced her a few nights ago in order to get to the Donald. And he has told her that whatever she does, she must vow to NEVER talk about the Roenick card with ANYONE. If she tells anyone about the card, Icestorm tells her, the wild sex and drunken hazy Manhattan nights between the two of them are over! A dead end. Ivanka tells you to get away from her; she says that she knows nothing of this "Roenick card" and that if she ever sees you again she will have you arrested. Her body guards drag you away. Alexander Mogilny: Cheyenne Mountain Nuclear Bunker; Rocky Mountains, Colarado They say that not even the Soviets' best KGB agents were ever able to get inside the bunker. If the Soviet machine couldn't even get a man in, how will a man working alone like you? You recon it would be easier to solve a rubik's cube blindfolded than get in there. You decide that your best option is to apply for a job with NORAD-- infiltrate from inside the system. No ambitious jobs-- you'll just apply for a janitor position-- and then you'll wait until one night when you're mopping the floors alone to sift through the files and find Mogilny. You got the job. It's your first day of training. The supervisor says you'll be working with another trainee-- a guy who goes by the name of Minpind. You ask how long this Minpind character has been working there-- is it his first day too? No, he says-- Minpind has been on the job for a week. Your supervisor then tells you to grab a mop bucket from the closet. As you approach the closet, you see that Minpind is already there. As Min notices you approaching, he turns and looks you right in the eyes... with a big grin on his face. Without a word spoken, you know it right then and there: He's already found Mogilny. You're too late. Patrick Roy: Lions' Den, Brox Zoo; New York City, New York Great, you want Roy, but lions? You go out and buy as much Kevlar as possible. You figure you'll show up to the zoo in all Kevlar and rush the den. Yeah, you'll take a few bites, but the Kevlar will protect you-- you'll grab the Roy and get out of there. So the day has come-- you have your Kevlar and you're in the zoo. A large crowd is gathered around the lions' den. You quietly make your way through crowd to the front. You jump the railing; everyone screams. You've done it; you're in the den. One of the cubs sees you right away and calls for the mother. The mother comes out of the den, angry, ready to attack. This is it. It's now or never if you're going to get Roy. Suddenly, you hear a woman's voice yell "stop!". It's one of the lion keepers. She tells you not to take one step further; she knows the Roy card is in there, but it's not worth it. She says that yesterday a kid named Plabax entered the den and was attacked by the lions-- he had to be rushed out by ambulance-- they don't know how much longer he has to live. And he never even got the card. Suddenly, it dawns on you: What are you doing? It's all just a game. You've risked so much. Is it really worth risking your life just to be able to use Roy in Wittgenstein's league? What are you doing with your life? What have you become? You stand there in the lions' den, the mother growling at you, for a moment in silence. You contemplate these questions. What will you do? THE END **Cliffhanger**** ************** SO ANYWAYS... that's the league I am thinking about running. Anyone think they'd join?
  2. the other bad part is that raph and I told you guys that ku was around and active.
  3. hokkee wants to trade down so that he can draft all fat players again.
  4. www.haxball.com -- get with the times. hax is the new 2on2; 2on2 is the new exi; exis are ded. (exis will be alive again once people start having a roster and bootleg roms.)
  5. ku's been on... been playing hax and 2on2 and chatting.
  6. First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for being here today. As the newest season of GDL draws near, I have had to make the inevitable decision of whether or not to continue my GDL career. And after much thought and reflection, I've decided not to continue my career and announce my retirement. It was not easy decision. I have many fond memories of GDL that I will carry with me for the rest of my life, like wrecking the trading system with hokkeefan last season and underperforming every regular season. With that said though, my passion for the game is not what it once was and I don't feel that I can go on underperforming and undermining the system like I have done in the past. Also, and more importantly, I would like to be able to spend more time with my family and devote my time to other endeavors. I would like to thank all of the people who run GDL as well as the players. I'll still be online for haxball and 2on2. In the future, I hope to see TK one day come back and win another GDL title. I also hope to see Kvartalnov rightfully get drafted in the first round. Thank you and may God bless America.
  7. If you haven't already, add us (raph, me, min, frey) on aim. We played tonight and have been playing few times a week. Ya, the noob abuse is bad. But occasionally you find a room with chill people & it's cool.
  8. I'm still discussing this with my family and mulling it over. Give me another day or two to decide if I want to play.
  9. so last night me, min, jay, tk, raph and frey are playing some haxball. eventually jay has to run. then raph runs. but the rest of keep playing in a room called nhl94.comSuperRoom... while we're playing, some character named 'Jessica' shows up, starts playing and making small talk, trolling a little, etc. (nothing out of the ordinary.) then tk/frey tells the person that they should check out nhl94 and the person said he has-- he used to play. we weren't really sure what to make of it-- maybe he/she was trolling?-- but then he breaks out that only frey would know him and that he started the beer league. bam! turns out, this dude is a character who went by the name of metz back in the day! dude is spending his nights trolling hax players under the name of Jessica with <3 as his number... he's probably working a normal day job-- little do his coworkers know that he lives a second life as Jessica on haxball.com. anyways, what are the odds that someone would be on haxball that used to be a full-time 94 member?-- let alone be on at the same night and find us? it's a small internet after all! but not gonna lie... haxball is like the wild west-- it has a law of its own. people constantly trolling, booting each other from games, name calling, telling stories with people they recognize from games passed-- people coming and going. it's a strange world out there. (ps: you should try hax. it's not better than 94, but it's still fun.)
  10. I'd be up for haxballing; it's fun, but seems like all the rooms lag like a b***h.
  11. My laptop appears to have died, so not sure when/if I'll be back in action. I'll let you know in near future- may buy new one.
  12. it's also better than 13 because turning a player doesn't feel like turning a mac truck
  13. I'm in a b check slump. Some games b check just refuses to work. Other games it works every time. I don't understand it. Somebody slap me in the face so I can snap out of it. 94 can be cruel.
  14. Dude, that's just creepy... you're okay with a girl leaving you because you will keep having weird dreams about her every night? Anyways, you'll be back. #kanyetwitty
  15. 2v2 is ded. exis 4 fun is ded. bsing on aim is ded.
  16. EDIT: nm... sparing the site from long breakdown of the pun 'United State of Amorica' & asking whether or not you got the idea from Finnegans Wake. (But did you?) Anyways... $40 seems fair. It's a 20 year old unopened game.
  17. For everything there is a season: a time to play nhl94, and a time for nhl94 to be dead. It'll come back. Everything ebbs and flows. (The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course.) Or maybe 94 will just die. O well. All is vanity anyways. #amirite?
  18. hit me up if you're on now (or anytime) aim: philiveyismyhero
  19. Welcome. Good to have another Pittsburgher on the site. Pittsburgh is 94 capitol of the world.
  20. at last second we had odd number of teams. so draft didn't happen. most people wouldnt have been able to make it anyways. so we're gonna pick up another team and then set the draft for another time. maybe a week or two into the season. oh well. we'll see. i'll let you know.
  21. Overworked ku & team neurosis is not a good combination on the forums right now. But I like both camps. Everyone's just gotta take everything at face value... & with a grain of salt. You know? #play94 #weareallstuckinthistogetherforbetterorworse
  22. reminder: the draft is sunday. try to be there if you can. or set your prerankings if you can't.
