  1. I think we need a union representative that is slightly more eloquent.
  2. dude at end... taylor britton.... he is money. MONEY!
  3. I would bet both of my kidneys that hokkee comes back. Despite his claims, I don't think the wait is doing anything detrimental... nor do I think the mass of new members are people with new names (is the reason you suggest this because you are one of these people?) Evan and Jacob are doing a great job, and everyone still has the ability to play games online without this site. Maybe you can start your own league hokkee, since you have a lot of your own visions. I would sign up.
  4. What seemed different to me was the skating and passing... it didn't feel the same. It's not to say it was better or worse, but it felt different. Perhaps this is an illusion I created in my head because of the differing sound effects. The instant manual goaltending is huge. I wish the Gens version had it.
  5. I tried the SNES version out about a year ago... to me, it felt like something was missing... like it was incomplete... like I was kissing my sister. Maybe I was just too used to the mechanics of the Genesis version at the time and didn't give it a shot, but I am wondering how other people who make the switch over feel. P.S. How do SNES purists feel about the Genesis version? Do you have barely-witty but insulting comments to combat? P.S.S. I do not have a sister, so I cannot confirm the feeling I had.
  6. Congradulations, I look forward to finally have an opponent. Good luck in our series!
  7. Thanks Dmitry, this is great! Is it possible to get a bracket up?
  8. takeyourpill, mike.... freaking play your games!!!!!
  9. 2 reasons the playoffs aren't going faster: 1: There are no deadlines. 2: There is barely evidence that the playoffs exists (i.e. nothing on the Gens Draft League page) This should be taken into consideration for the next league.
  10. I got my games done, do I get a cookie? And I have no clue who I am potentially facing for the eastern conference finals, can someone enlighten me with a bracket?
  11. The Penguins managed to take the 1st 2 games of the series to go up 2-0. Patrick Roy and his boys Teppo and Dave Ellett put on the ritz for the ladies and gentz at the Civic Arena, playing solid D, trademark of the Pens all years. As the series moved to Montreal, coach KingCupsRun93 must've pulled one of those naked lady bits seen in the movie Major League to motivate his squad. Cliff Ronning and Dale Hawerchuk made Roy consider early retirement, and Tommy Barasso was playing like it was the 91-92 playoffs of old. The Gilette all-in moment of the day was the Habs game 4 decisive 4-0 victory. Muller, Juneau, and Hogue were frustrated the entire game by the defensive guru-ings of good ol' Larry Murphy. Series, tied, 2-2. At this point, I was considering having kgman sign in under my screenname to play for me, because I was getting smashed by the Habs and I couldn't do anything about it. Luckily, I have years of experience of losing in the playoffs, so I didn't let it get under my skin. Resorting to fundamental park my ass in the lane defense, I was able to get a grip and give KingsCupRun93 two of my best efforts ever to squeak by and win the series 4-2. Series MVP: Teppo Numminen. I think he scored as many goals in this series as the regular season. Bizarro world food for thought: Patrick Roy on the Penguins,.... Tom Barrasso on the Canadiens.
  12. Scotty Stevens: keep up the good write ups, some people do enjoy reading them. We also enjoy having you in the draft league, and in future leagues. If people don't care to read your write-ups or banter, they have the option not to. Hopefully they can keep their opinions to themselves, but in the meanwhile, continue being yourself, and don't let anyone get under your skin. Just smash them in the mouth like Scott Stevens would.
  13. FACT! Gary Bettman has ruined the All-Star game. It is now more meaningless than the ProBowl.
  14. I'll fight for the Penguins in the Stanley Cup. I don't care much for an All-Star game. Let's not call it bowing down... I'm not stepping up. and as a P.S. I think we can all agree the coaches in the West as a whole are better. It would be interesting if someone could get a power ranking formula worked out based on schedule and what not, just to see where everyone stacks up. I'm not statistician, but I'll give you the #1.... backhand. You can work from there.
  15. Uh, yea, and West has better coaches. Just take the bragging rights.
  16. I have been down by as many as 6 goals and came back. Does there need to be a mercy rule for a 10 minute videogame anyways? It seems to take away legitimacy and turn it into 4th grade softball, as well as turn some stats that are tracked meaningless.
  17. The GG or some form of sportsmanship after a game I think shows a lot of class, especially when coming after a loss. Of course everyone will get pissed if they lose in OT by a crease cutting goal, but it's just a game! I'm onboard with the rest of backhand's pointers. On top of those, I'm wondering how people feel about checking after the whistle... is it stat boosting, or headhunting? If you're up 6-0, are you going to start checking the opponent after a whistle? It feels unwholesome to me if it's against someone you don't know that well.
  18. I don't see why there should even be a discussion about it. Sure, some people get all cranky when they get scored on in that manner, but it is defendable. Perhaps someone should release a NHL94 honor code.
  19. yea... playoffs are open. Dmitry said we can start playing games and emailing him the save state files. Hey, you're welcome.
  20. Yea skool, you are a cool dude, it would be a shame if you stopped playing. It is true that leagues are getting more competitive, but don't let that be a reason for leaving the game. You still had a successful season where you were not only competitive in every game you played, but were someone most coaches feared to play because of your skills. I experienced the same in the last Gens League where I had a losing season, but I enjoyed playign anyways. There seems to be an overemphasis on the importance of NHL94 playoffs. I play every game because I enjoy playing, not because of the dream of winning a "Stanley Cup" in one of these leagues. I hope most guys feel that way too... or everyone is WEIRD!
  21. The newest release of AIM allows you to run multiple ScreenNames. and thank you addison for looking into this... I remember mentioning this months ago, but it wasn't such a big issue with many people. I would like it however because I have my IM name as invisible to people who I don't have in my buddy list, so new players would probably never have a chance to contact me for a game.
  22. A keeper league is a fantastic idea...... but I think I remember this being discussed prior to season 1 being started, and Dmitry mentioned that it is a good idea to get a feel for the draft and what is important to draft for first. I'm sure a few guys are disappointed with some of their picks given the available players. I would definately keep Roy and Hogue.... but if it were put to a vote, I'd say keep the keeper league off for another season.
  23. Since all players are listed as "Forward" and "Defense" only, I won't bother splitting players up by position... but here are my votes: East: Fowards 1. Lemieux 2. Alex Mogilny 3. Pavel Bure D-men 1. Iafrate 2. Zhitnik / Svoboda Goalie 1. Roy West: Fowards 1. Stevie Y 2. Mike Gartner 3. Jimmy Carson D 1. Housley 2. Borque G. 1. yup... Belfour ---> are we gonna have coaching awards?
  24. There is no reason to bring Graves back.... not after he killed Lemieux's wrist for the playoffs.
