  1. I think if we organized the conferences by location, if would get boring. You'd always be in the same division with the same guys.
  2. One idea is to take the top 9 forwards and top 6 defense as chosen in the GDL (average over past three drafts) Jeremy Roenick Mario Lemieux Pavel Bure Alexnder Mogilny Theoren Fleury Steve Yzerman Teemu Selanne Doug Gilmour Dino Ciccarelli Ray Bourque Phil Housley Don Sweeney Paul Coffey Chris Chelios Gary Suter Set the goalies to 99s, though.
  3. What about a ROM where all the teams are the same, BUT they are comprised of players with varying attributes. Like NES Ice Hockey. The slow checker who can shoot, the speedy passer/deker with a weak shot who's easy to knock over, and the medium guy! Then everyone can choose the guys they want.
  4. I think that's fine for the first round, since it's easy to keep track of who's left.
  5. Yeah, what I meant was they would draft good players with those picks, then trade them away. I saw a short interview with Belak where he "blamed" Mats Sundin for his being traded; since they couldn't move Mats, he was the next best thing, something like that. pretty funny.
  6. The Huet deal was pretty crazy. 2nd round pick for a starting goalie? Crazy. Doesn't seem to help their playoffs. 4 extra draft picks for the leafs.. watch them trade the players away, though. Ducks picked up MA Bergeron.. surely they're going to win the cup now? Fedorov + Ovechkin should be interesting... Dallas/TB deal should be win-win
  7. Yeah, make the speed/agility 5/5 and the shooting 4/4, and it could be good.
  8. Just to get some clarification... Returning coaches are automatically in? Do they need to sign up? The 2 guys on the waiting list are automatically in as long as they sign up before Saturday March 1 at 11:59 PM EST ?
  9. Yeah, i'll be able to play next week. i still have one game left
  10. I think they get picks around the middle of the round, but I forget exactly.
  11. I think it's OK as it is. The players may be different every season, but at least the teams are the same. I don't care for Dallas, but now they're my team.. On the other hand, maybe there could be a 3-season limit or something..
  12. Can I be the Orange Flyers, my work hockey team? (we have a 10-team league. 2 goals and 2 assists in 16 games, oh yeah! I used to play goalie, so I have little scoring sense.. I think my +/- is pretty good, though..). But seriously.. let's stick to NHL teams. I don't know/care about these college teams.
  13. I like it. How about we combine this with the east/west conference idea, too? Games against guys on the opposite coast are harder to get in, so release those games right away so they're available right from the start. Here's how I'd like to see it go: (assuming 24 teams) 2x6 non-conference games 2x5 own division (early season matchups..) 2x6 non-conference 2x6 conference (other division) 2x5 own division (final playoff rush) ---- 56 games The reason I put some division games at the start is so there are two separate meetings throughout the season.. you see the guy at the start of the season when he's getting used to his team, then you see him again right at the end when he's used to his team and important points are on the line.
  14. What about -- release 2 games vs everyone right away half-way through, release the remaining games (divisional games). makes the standings more interesting, 4-pt games at the end of the season.
  15. Yeah, it's something weird with corepng. funny bug. My comp is still toast, so.. no updates on this thread yet! Also, I need to fix that x264 problem you found, where my link goes to a command-line version, not a version that can be used in virtualdub... what did you find that let you use x264 in virtualdub?
  16. Downsizing -- are we going to upsize again in the winter? Carse - let him play, he already got the short end of the stick in a confusing situation Line changes - I don't think the GDL can go line changes on. It's already got 3 seasons played. I'd say make a separate league for that. The biggest difference when playing with line changes is that you can't spam the speed boost. dmitry's first league was pretty fun (though I think i had one of the better teams, so i'm biased). i don't think line changes will affect advantage of having a guy like Roenick on your team. I like line changes, but there are so many people who hate them...
  17. Try new things, experiment, and have fun :/ Remember how a guy scored on my last time, and try not to let him get the same chance again. Draft Roy
  18. Passing in SNES is easier / more likely to succeed. It'd be nice if the Gens passing were a little more accurate, something I would definitely try to tweak if the source code were available (hint-hint EA!)
  19. I'm not sure, but try deleting the .INI file (i think it's called gens.ini or config.ini). (or rename it to gens.ini.bkp)
  20. Daaaaaaaaammmmnnn... what a series don't suppose you guys recorded games through the p2p kaillera? I like how the number of shots per game tended to decrease, as though you guys were getting more and more tired
  21. 2.33 GAA after 2 rounds in the playoffs.. that's insane!
