  1. Could we make some kinda wishlist? Wishful thinking I suppose to think that EA or some other company will make a new hockey game that doesn't play like $%*! We know that we got about 700 people who love 94 and the way it plays and that has got to count for something. I know they have official wishlists out there but I find that they get out of hand, people asking for the lamest things when the gameplay never gets addressed. Honestly, the game in my opinion has not changed since 1999 on EA's releases. It's just gotten glossed over with new options and control schemes.
  2. It's something you have to play, a video may not be enough, grab the iso off the download section and check it out.
  3. I need to find the colors in the hex code, change them to the colors for the MMVII and NHL logos, then I have to change the tile layout (2000, 2001, 2002, etc.) THEN I can edit the title screen however I want. The title screen looks like the attached file.
  4. Yes, the focus has switched to playing it online and not making the game better. The biggest goal is to make a hockey game with 94 gameplay but with new options like they have in the new hockey games, we all know that most of the new games play like crap or we wouldn't have lost sleep over editing and playing 94. As for Wikipedia, we are listed on the site in a few places if you search www.wikipedia.org for nhl 94 you will come up with a list of games in the series and you will see our site listed. I have also updated some of the info myself regarding some of the info on the games. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_94 There is still a lot to be done with this game and there are a lot of fans out there that love the game but just don't realize that people like us exist. Use nhl94.com in your sigs on other msg boards or in your email if you like, whatever it takes.
  5. The problem is that its not a cheap play, its the games fault for having the player attributes way to high, makes things like defense useless. If you were to play Chris's upcoming NHL MMVII (double M seven) you would see that the cheap goal and just dekeing around all day is not so easy.
  6. A good nickname my friends and I use are LOSERS!!! Hehe. I've done it now...
  7. It's good to see there are some people out there who actually have played it and realize how superior it is. We need more people like you soccer1!
  8. No more overrated players and now you actually work up to scoring goals and setting up plays. This release needs some serious consideration from all you 94 fans. There will be a ROM release and Chris needs your encouragement. I would play a online league with this rom once it's completed but I have mostly held back because I wanted an edit that was more realistic on the ratings.
  9. Thanks, that's a lot more then I expected to find out about the files. Better then any info I have found out already.
  10. That one I do have but NHL 95 for PC is actually closer to NHL 94. Neither game has manual goalie control as they felt the need to take the one thing out that matters the most.
  11. If you download or have NHL 94 on a CD, you can see the many PCM files. Those are the audio files for Ron Barr. Is there any program that will play those files? Does anyone know the specs for these files?
  12. Playing hockey and playing a hockey game you start to see things in a computer hockey game that just doesn't fit. I have played the prototype for NHL MMVII and it's what I want in a hockey game, too many people think that players should be rated higher then they really are and what happens and that you actually lose things. Defense are way more effective and there are more penalties and injuries during the game. Somehow they wanted to make a faster game but what happens is that in 94 for one, the players overskate the puck too much and they wander way more. This game you actually have to work at your passing, any easier and you might as well let the game play in demo mode. This is what I want in NHL 94 and for me, overstated player ratings are unacceptable.
  13. It's all US propaganda, its either all baseball or football or basketball junk. I for one take offence that they say hockey is a niche sport, take most of those critics, stick them in a rink and watch me crush them into the boards... --- I have watched some of the videos that Chris made and the main thing I noticed that with the lower ratio of ratings, the players actually stick back on defence a lot more. It was almost like watching a whole new game, being that you people like me have watched and played 94 more times then you care to think about, you know that the defence tends to pinch and wander around but they don't do that as much now. I'll get Chris to send me those vids and put them on this board.
  14. You can download the Sega CD version here: http://www.nhl94.com/html/multimedia/downloads.asp and if you have a Sega CD you can play that when burnt on the actual system. It does suck that most people have played the Snes and Genny versions which are good in their own right. I own all 3 versions and I prefer the CD version.
  15. People, show some support, I would join an online league if this ROM were to be made. Chris needs our interest and support just like every other project that goes on here.
  16. Chris and I for one prefer the CD version because it is a better game then the Genny ver. Also, you can edit it and play it on your actual CD system but not so much online unless you have a modded Xbox. Anyone who doesn't at least appreciate what he is doing should understand that both of us play hockey in real life and realize that whatever crap that EA comes out these days for a hockey game is not very realistic, just because you have a favorite player doesn't mean that he should be rated higher. Having the players rated slower just means that you have to work harder in the game to score as we all know it is easy to score on the computer in 94. So, you all better like this or else.
  17. While NHL 92 is great, the lack of manual goalie is the main reason I don't play it.
  18. That comparison is all well and good but you forgetting the Sega CD version of 94.
  19. A friend of mine is making a 07 update to the Sega CD version and I was wondering if there was any word on helping him out with this?
  20. I was searching around for source code stuff for the Sega CD and other things and I found this site: http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~mrp29/index.html I'm not sure if that will be of any help but it's got some interesting things on it.
  21. I was thinking maybe more games that were comparable to 94, or worthy of playing if you can't get your hands on 94. A list like that would be better then just listing all hockey games. Of course to be honest, we could dismiss EA's NHL's 95 to present because I have most of them and have played them all and they are just not that good. I was impressed that NHL 06 has somewhat usable manual goalie but again, most of the buttons they add are useless, the whole right hand stick for puck control and shooting and then you have the buttons on the side thing is stupid. off topic I'm telling you when you play hockey in real life, if you can't puck handle and move in one fluid motion, you are not going to have the puck very long, they need to have both in the same control just like in 94.
  22. All versions of 94 are decent hockey games by any standards, at least the high standards we people here on this board have. An editor that edited all the versions of 94 would be great and give everyone something they wanted. This is a long process so you just have to wait for good things to happen. Good work to those of you who have gone sleepless over this!
  23. He may mean, editing it so that every 'animation' of each goal in the game is recorded, some sort of highlight reel. That would be cool, but seems like a big job. As for ongoing stats, the program keeps track of stats for just the 1 game, but it's not very hard to make an ongoing database from that information with excel.
