  1. The 16- bit EA hockey series is just that, a series. 94 just happens to be widely regarded as "the best." However, most folks who have owned 94, continued to buy the latest titles through the years. Therefore, many people still have an interest in the other titles. Our holy father (Evan) has simply provided a home for everyone who was a fan of this series. So yes, "eminently logical" describes it best. So what if no one usually posts for NHL 96. So many new people come across this site that the odds are good they may prefer the other titles.
  2. Tru dat. I have tried it several times and never could get it to work. I renamed the files as suggested and everything. Im a rom junkie and worked hard but never got it right. A breakthrough would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Everyone is correct about swingers. It was 93 and the statement Trent made was incorrect. That scene just goes to show everyone how much this series meant to people all over the country at that time. Chances are, if you played it, you remember it. In Mallrats, it appeared that it was NHL All Star Hockey 95 with sound effects similar to NHL 95 by EA. (Hartford? The Whale?) In Chasing Amy, I haven't seen it in a while but I think it was NHL 96 or something. Correct me if Im wrong. I don't feel like busting out the VHS.
  4. That looks f**ckin cool. Dude, its a must have.
  5. If you could point me in the right direction, that would be sweet. Keep in mind though, Im no guru when it comes to hacking. Yeah, those features would be cool as hell. It looks great. Thanx man.
  6. that is a rip from caddy shack. rodney dangerfield asked judge smail's wife if she wanted to make 14 dollars; the hard way.
  7. Mr. Hacks, I respect your work and appreciate it. Don't let the man get you down. Ive been awaiting your site's revival for some time now and eagerly anticipate said event. And to you and everyone else: has anyone ever edited the ice color for gens? I see what i believe is the cd version with white ice and circles instead of stars under the players and wonder if anyone has ever done that with the 16 bit version. It would be a keeper.
  8. Thanks so much for the rom. But I feel like an idiot because I can't get it to work. What am I doing wrong. Is it a patch or do I have to rename it or what? Is it for Genesis or Snes? Sorry for the trouble but I would'nt ask if I really did'nt want it. If someone could assist I would be grateful.
  9. I checked it out and, yes, CPU usage is pegged but I never experience lag. Haven't to this point anyway. Interesting experiment. Unfortunately, I haven't a clue about what to do. Just thought I could check that for you.
  10. oK, i'll give you self righteous. but "over-rated"? i'm trying to say he's under rated. sorry, i get emotional over this subject. my best friend is a wings fan and we have been debating this for years. especially tough when Hullie won a cup in detroit.
  11. It's funny how they recent Yzerman tribute got so many replies and the Brett Hull one sparked no interest. It just proves that no one really watches hockey. Not now, not back in 94. All anyone really pays attention to is ratings. Proof positive: Steve Yzerman: 95 Brett Hull: 81. This is the one and only thing that I don't like about NHL 94 and I never have. Hull deserved a better rating. That's why Yzerman's dick is raw from getting it sucked so much around here.
  12. Great points by Mr. Hurray. But I've got to stick up for my boy. Let's break down the stats. Points- 1755 to 1391 advantage Yzerman Goals- 692 to 741 advantage Hull Assists- 1063 to 650 advantage Yzerman Games- 1514 to 1269 advantage Yzerman Cups- 3 to 2 advantage Yzerman And also granted, both players virtually saved the franchise in the town they were superstars in, most notably Hull with his career there resulting in the construction of a new arena. Now, statistically speaking, 19 was the (uggggg) better player. And where consistency was concerned, Yzerman is unparalleled. But Steve Yzerman had a stable franchise behind him with good leadership and consistency in the front office and behind the bench (Scotty Bowman). Mr. Hull, on the other hand, did not. First, Hull and Oates was the best thing since sliced bread. But what happened? Oates was traded after 3 years (WTF?). Then, the only professional head coach ever to mean anything to Hull, Brian Sutter, got canned. Theeen, the flakes in the front office brought a colossal ball- licker named Mike Keenan in to not only coach, but have control over the player personnel resulting in a total implosion of team chemistry and dismantling of the formerly pretty good roster. Yes, he got players like Pronger and MacInnis in there, but look at who he shipped out. Brendan Shanahan- 1275 points, Curtis Joseph- 439W, 2.77 GAA. Shall I go on? Hull outlasted Keenan, but his reputation was damaged due to the fact that he always knew Keenan was just a turd. I just took too long for the front office to see that. And in the end, the St. Louis Blues made the biggest mistake in franchise history: they chose not to re-sign Hull. Brett Hull was a f**kin rock star. Exploding slapper. Sharp tongue. Goal scorer. All comparisons aside, Brett Hull was fun to watch. He was why I tuned in. Even after leaving St. Louis. I don't know. Maybe I just proved your point for you. But what I am trying to get across is that Hullie had the intangibles that make people into stars. When the camera comes on, that's when you will see them at they're best. Yzerman would have put up the same numbers on the pond out back. And I respect him for that. But I see comments about how no one around here likes the new NHL and how the '94 group of players was so much fun. But obviously, most did'nt actually watch the NHL back then either, because if they had, Hullie would be as widely regarded as I make him out to be. Because back then, he was that rock star. So no, maybe he did'nt match Steve Yzerman's career. He did'nt have to.
  13. Well done Jesus. It proves to me once again, you have too much time on your hands.
  14. yep, so graphic you could sniff it.
  15. Yes, the truth is, it is flagged (eg George Costanza). However, I do not intend on returning it to the book store. Besides, its my copy of said bible. Last time you had a peice of ass, your finger broke through the toilet paper. Me? I keep the brown off the digits.
  16. Easy now, patio87 just needs to spend more time on the shitter.
  17. Ah yes, hail to the manual. I learned the game of hockey from that manual. All the rules, all the players. It made me a fan of the NHL and the game of hockey. There's no better place to do all of that than, you guessed it, on the shitter. I still bust out the manual when im light on reading material.
  18. I would just like to commemorate the raising of the number 16 into the rafters in St. Louis tonight. An honor bestowed on only the best in the game. While it is clearly arguable (proven day in day out on this forum), Brett Hull was the most prolific goal scorer in the game. Prolific purely for the way he did it, the gifts he was given, and the work he put into it. He was undeniably one the most colorful personalities in the history of the game. All this added together equals him deserving my gratitude and the gratitude of everyone who loves and respects this great sport. So Mr. Hull, I drink to you while I use you to score 5 goals on Kelly Hrudey. Muy congratulatos!
  19. I dont have any hacks of that one, just the original, which holds its own.
  20. its an action more than lingo. we still have the old huge genesis controllers. i dont know if many people realize this or not, but those controllers actually make a rather loud, rather painful knee cracker. especially when slung by a crazed lunatic who just got scored on. its perhaps the one thing i miss when playing online. its kind of hard to smoke your opponents knee when he is sitting in california or something. the extent of our lingo never really reaches beyond weaving a tapestry of obscenities that still hangs in space somewhere over lake michigan to this day. we liked "read the scoreboard!" when one talks trash when trailing.
  21. i am an edited rom junkie. i have most if not all of the hacked roms posted on this site within the last 6 months. but i constantly feel the need for more needles in my arm. i want to encourage everyone who is willing, to either post your favorite hacked roms or email them to me. rynocub@hotmail.com. trust me, if you send them, i will play them and use them to get drunk (big gulp every whistle, ya know?).
  22. LD Lee Norwood RD Jeff Brown LW Craig Janney C Brett Hull RW Brendan Shanahan Use the wings to drop it to Hull for bullet like one timers. The shift to right wing for Shanahan is a natural one. Lee Norwood just for the challenge. And, of course, Cujo. I like using Winnepeg as well. High ratings with speed to burn.
