  2. Can we get the first message to reflect the list? Or have a link to a list? So far: 1.1 JR 1.2 Mogs 1.3 Yzerman 1.4 Dino 1.5 Bure 1.6 Gartner 1.7 Selanne 1.8 Klima 1.9 Gretzky 1.10 Modano 1.11 Lafontaine 1.12 Fleury 1.13 Russ Courtnall 1.14 ?????
  3. When is cut off point for Round 1?
  4. Hey Jer, first I want to say thanks for your support of nhl94rocks.com! I know you have used it a bit and given some great feedback. Now, as to whether this stat mod can be done, I think it can. At least on the website. As long as the game is recording the correct one timers stats (which I am not sure, but maybe Raph or Smozoma would know), it would be pretty easy to only count one timer goals, and any goals beyond that amount count as -1 each (or whatever punishment is deemed appropriate). And if there is real demand, sure we could add this feature. Sorry to say, I am personally not interested. Tweaking the way the game is played just doesn't interest me. (I don't play 2 on 2 for instance.) Seems to me, if only one timers counted, it would be pretty easy to really focus on clogging the middle and pretty well preventing any onetimers.
  5. Series up! http://nhl94rocks.com/resultsSeries.php?seriesId=175 Note: Our site doesn't actually show the period stats (yet), so for the record I will confess: Raph scored 9 goals on me in the first period of game 2. Yikes!
  6. What happens when you try to register? Also, I have all of the gamesaves, but after you told me that you scored more goals in one period against me than has ever happened before, I am reconsidering? I don't want to be associated with that record. (I kid. But it does kinda suck.)
  7. The Number one most important "fix" for NHL94online.com is this: 1. Make the zip download package for GENs contain the new Kaillera that we use! This quick fix carries a lot of bang for the buck, and would help new users big time.
  8. I won't speak for Chaos (who does the nhl94online.com site) but will make a comment or two from my perspective. I know adding a Facebook comment widget would be very easy. Mind you, then your real identity would be used, or whatever your Facebook account name you use, but I would personally be fine with that... But yeah, using your handle on the site itself would be ideal. Not sure how much work that would be. (I do PHP/MySQL too, and I would guess a couple hours for something quick and dirty. Especially if you just add comments and don't allow users to edit them after they are submitted, and rather than using a fancy text editor widget, instead use a simple textarea and parse carriage returns into <p> or <br> tags....)
  9. Don't you think that it is not so much Moog is good, as it is the guys drafting him are REALLY skilled, and they put a priority on picking better forwards and d-men, and grab a goalie very late? So really Moog is merely a decent goalie (but a good pick in later rounds), rather than (in absolute terms) a great goalie? I am phrasing this awkwardly, but you probably get what I mean? Moog is no Roy or Eddie, or even Essensa or Ranford. He is a good later round pick, drafted by coaches with skills that don't need a great goalie. Yeah? Edit: I will say FIVE TIMES is amazing, but I think that is a coincidence. (And Plabax used him 2x, so there is a preference bias there,)
  10. King of Kong was an amazing movie, period. But! I do believe it was Michael Moore-ish in the way that it was edited. Billy Mitchell seemed like the ultimate villain in it, and I think that was probably unfair. Also worth noting was there were other people in the mix for the high score -- one which (if memory serves) even nabbed it before Wiebe did -- and they weren't mentioned altogether because they makers wanted one villain, one hero. It was also interesting in Nibbler to see Billy Mitchell again, of course, and he seemed much nicer. (Ie. the makers weren't out to make him look like a villain.) One unsung plot mover is Walter Day (the Twin Galaxies dude) who is so earnest and nice, it is easy to overlook the fact that he is the real villain! (He blurs the rules in Kong and Nibbler to certify the winners he sees fits to choose.) Note 1: Whether he uses "creative editing" or not, I love Michael Moore. Note 2: I am sure Billy Mitchell *is* sort of a villain, but not of the magnitude he appears in Kong Note 3: Creative scoring aside, Walter Day seems like a legit nice guy
  11. If 80% of the history of what became NHL'94 is tied to Madden, you gotta tell that story! But! This is an NHL94 doc, right? So I figure it will still be 90% about NHL'94. (You aren't suggesting that the doc will be about Madden and NHL'94 together -- with equal representation -- right?)
  12. You get a test game by replying in the Test Game thread. Then Kingraph will add you to an AIM group where you can request a test game. Thread: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/10987-gens-test-game-requests/ Note: If your old AIM name is not "Burntman", I would make a new account with the name Burntman. It helps when the same handle is used everywhere, and creates confusion when it isn't. As for your controller, some of the best guys use keyboard! But, a good, cheap one is the iBuffalo. Does Mac have USB ports? I would order an iBuffalo, then see if it is good enough. $12 you can't go wrong. https://www.amazon.com/Buffalo-Classic-USB-Gamepad-PC/dp/B002B9XB0E I think your mentor should be a Mac guy. But if no one steps up, I can be your mentor. Please keep posting relevant feedback (what makes it hard to get started) in this thread! We will sort out the issues as we go along. Thanks for the feedback and welcome!
  13. Welcome Burntman! You are just what we are looking for! A technical computer guy with sound communication skills that is new, and can give great feedback. (Which you already have, but keep it coming!) Yes, JR and CHI are certainly allowed, and I used to think the same thing as you, but guess what? As you get better playing the online pros you come to find that JR may not be the best player, and CHI may not be the best team! In the A division, where the vets can score with many variations of pass shots and have sound positional play, too, the teams don't make a huge difference as long as they are at least decent (say Boston or better). As for manual control, again, the better you get, the more critical this skill is. Auto goalie is for rookies! Being great at manual goalie separates the Men from the Boys, and is a dimension of the game necessary for serious competition. If you play for fun (we call them "exis") you can do whatever you agree on. If you are in a League, no, you will never find auto goalie. Welcome!
  14. Yeah that scene -- or part of it -- SHOULD be in any doc on NHL94. Mikey, have you tried asking permission to use it, from whoever owns the rights? Also, maybe "Fair Use" would allow you to use a snippet? (I just googled and read a bit about it and it is much murkier than I thought. Also I thought documentaries had special Fair Use considerations, but it doesn't look like that is the case.)
  15. Boom! We did some major look upgrades. Got a better logo. Basically we are ripping off nhl94hockey_dot_com that Raph gave us a link to. (Ripoff is a harsh term. We are "paying tribute to" it. ) This is the mid-term look. We will get a better logo (pixelated) and have better support for phones soon. But the big next UI To do is Team logos!!
  16. That is a good idea. We will add that. (How'd you get J&J to do a 7 game series? He is always saying "Best of 5" to me these days! On a positive note, Atomic made it so now you can do 1, 3, 5 or 7 game series!)
  17. I do think there SHOULD be a list, but not a "rank" from best to worst. Just a good and bad, where only "poor" warrant comment. Like: "Guys in Good Standing" - name 1 - name 2 - name 3 "Guys in Poor Standing" - name 1 - bailed on VHL3, missed 20% of games in Fall Classic 2016 - name 2 - disappeared completely in middle of Fall Classic 2016 ... etc.
  18. Lol if I were subbed it would be like John Scott at the All Stars game. (Come to think of it, he did pretty good though, didn't he?)
