  1. I also agree with this! And hope Brutus keeps being commish, cuz he runs things well. (Love the mid-deason checkpoint addition, too, which had a big impact on me, personally.) Next summer, if I have a big vacation overlap, I may not play any leagues. Now I know. I didn't realize how big an impact summer (and vacation) would have on me and others. All things considered, we just have to lower our expectations in summer. Or maybe just make smaller, lighter leagues? Or just do exis? But I think, all things considered, this summer GDL league is going fine.
  2. I am busy until 9pm EST today. You ever available that late? Otherwise I can arrange a time earlier this coming weekend.
  3. I am hoping to schedule with Skip and Icestorm. You are in my division, so this will cover 8 games! (Zalex would be good, too, but he is never around.) Of course I will play anyone, but those are the two biggies! I do apologize for being AWOL. Fault is 100% mine, not Skip or Icestorm. But if we can schedule that would be great! Any night after 9pm EST would be ideal! Cheers!
  4. Mods, please delete this thread. I made a new one: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/17690-calling-skip-and-icestorm/ I intended to adapt this thread as time went on, but I am unable to edit the title, hence the new thread. Thanks!
  5. Thanks, Ice! Much appreciated! Love the vets that share knowledge! The better everyone gets, the more fun for all I think? Thanks!
  6. +1 I also agree with keeping the days fixed. There will be edge cases (like neither day works for Lupz) but the overall group benefit of this approach is greater with fixed days.
  7. Geeze I feel like we missed an opportunity here. I remember when Mikey solicited questions for Jim Simmons and Mark Lesser interviews. These two could have cleared up all sorts of conspiracy theories, like the long and short stick thing, what all the stats really do (some appear to have no function, and I have even heard some people says there are hidden stats that are undocumented), are righties really better dekers and can they turn quicker, etc., etc... Anyway, it sounds like maybe Mikey got some of this info all the same. Can't wait for the doc.
  8. These are two different opinions: Raph says users DO affect PIMS, Plabax says they don't. My gut feeling is they do, as Raph says. But I would love to see the proof Raph mentioned? He gave one example (Brutus vs J&J using Bourque) but I know he is a stats guy and would agree the sample size is too small... Has anyone done some serious analysis with a bigger sample size? (Let's try and kill off at least one of these zombie threads that Plabax keeps alive!)
  9. Another idea is give yourself a crap team, play CHI or DET, and pull your goalie.
  10. Seth, I am on phone so can't reply as well as I would like, but... It is in poor form to stall like you describe. There is an etiquette thread that says this somewhere. Flipping puck is fine, but staying in your own zone and stalling is crap. The way the game is programmed it is hard to stop someone wasting time in their defensively zone. This is Pandora's Box, my friend. You do this and weak players may consider stalling THE ENTIRE GAME hoping to win 1 0 on a single counter attack, or even play for a (soccer style) 0-0 tie!
  11. So this was posted on Tue July 12, and the next Monday was July 18. My impression was this was a short "filler" tourney, to keep people busy until GDL started? But now it is well underway? Is this tourney still happening? Should it be happening, with GDL underway? Note: This is not a complaint message. Just want the logistics. I need to plan things out with travel time/vacation....
  12. I haven't digested everything written above (and I may not even be able to, due to limited brain function) but I have to say Well Done! Really impressed with these "magazine quality" articles that people like Smozoma put together. Awesome stuff!
  13. TEAM: TAMPA BAY 1.1 JR - F 2.24 Ranford - G 3.1 Davydov- F 4.24 Dave Ellet -D 5.1 Donato- F 6.24 Gord Hynes-D 7.1 Mark Howe-D 8.24 Neil Wilkinson-D 9.1 Mike Donnelly - F 10.24 Mike Keane- F 11.1 Rick Tocchet- F 12.24 Jim Waite - G
  14. Interesting. But, my guess is, that is the difference between a casual fan who might be somewhat familiar with the games, and a serious fan. Anyone on this site obviously is well aware that fighting isn't in '94. I am sure to JR, FLeury and the like NHL 92-95 and possibly more are all a blur. But what I hope you mean -- though I am sure you don't -- is Jim Simmons and Mark Lesser thought fighting was still in. And it IS in, code-wise. But because of pressure from above, some low level code jockey was asked to flip a flag in the code to "fightng=false" and it is just one simple edit from restoring '94 to it;s full glory! (I know that is a dream, but hey, why not?)
  15. Your work is appreciated, Chaos! It makes things so much more fun having real stats being tracked. THANKS A LOT!
  16. Thanks a lot, Raph! We really appreciate you putting this together. Even more so because you aren't even playing in this GDL, so you really took one for the team here! One small typo I noticed... no big deal, but I thought I would mention it. Vancouver is not AtomicRaven this time around, but Houly.
  17. Can you elaborate on how DNPs affect Draft Order? Do they count as wins, which would give the offender a higher finish, therefore a worse draft pick? (Surely they can't count towards a worse finish, which would entitle them to a higher draft pick?)
  18. Well at least one good thing has come from this Troll-thread: a real life challenge between Coach and Brutus. Next King of '94 or wherever you guys see each other in person, it looks like we got ourselves a competition! Awesome! I got $20 on Coach. (He is a coach, after all!) Note: Real life sports are for nerds. Cool people play video game sports only.
  19. Yeah, man. If flights weren't so expensive I planned on: 1. Attending tourney Sat 2. Going to Packers' game that Sunday The Packers are playing at home, and I cannot think of a home game anywhere I would rather attend than the Greenbay Packers at Lambeau field.
  20. You stand corrected, Sir! In fact many people have played Hartford in online Classic. I would say, when a draft goes beyond 10 teams it is even frequently chosen, according to records at nhl94online.com... And in my opinion, Hartford is one of the best "lower tier" teams. Kind of a diamond in the rough, near the bottom of the bin.
  21. So I think I understand it now. I am going to pick JR. So My picks will be: #1 1.1 JR #2 Anything from 2.24 on #3 Anything from 3.1 on #4 Anything from 4.24 on #5 Anything from 5.1 on #6 Anything from 6.24 on #7 Anything from 7.1 on #8 Anything from 8.24 on ...etc. Got it, right?
  22. Welcome! I think you are in luck cuz there is an NHL94 tourney about to happen in your home town! Did you know that? If not, here are details: http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php/topic/17554-sept-24-2016-green-bay-wi-king-of-94-wisconsin/
  23. Welcome Yahrdme! You can easily play some people online here if you get AIM and download the needed software. People are always looking for "exis"! Welcome to the forurm and hopefully soon to online play!
