77
in NHLPA93 Off Awareness and Def Awareness are backwards... play a team with all 100 Off Awareness and 0 Def Awareness - theses always 2 to 3 people back on defense play a team with all 100 Def Awareness and 0 Off Awareness - no ones back and you get a million breakaways time to bust out the hex editor and fix another EA f**k up... =P Edited February 21, 2013 by
CoachMac
Interesting. Have you tried 100 on both? This seems to show the same thing. http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/13954-cpu-not-hard-enough-try-this/ Edited February 22, 2013 by CoachMac
kingraph
Both are very interesting finds...would love to do some more testing on this in 94.

trudatman
whoa. when did they end up fixing this? GOOD FIND!
77
100 on both and the offence takes precedence... but i swear they are backwards... anyone agree?!
CoachMac
Seems to work. 100 offensive awareness and zero defense awareness seems to make for smarter more aggressive CPU players. I am going to test 100 on both. If you set all players to 100 Endurance, 100 Off Aw, and 0 Def Aw. You can really see players true worth. I always wondered why Bob Carpenter seemed better than Cam Neely in 93. Also shows why Klima is so loved. Really just 6 stats matter in ranking and Im not sure about stickhandling which means only 5 matter Edited February 22, 2013 by CoachMac
CamKneely
I tried this on 94. It seems to have been fixed...based on a small sample. I made everybody on the Penguins starting line 6s in OA and 0s in DA, and the Flyers the opposite. The Penguins acted a lot more focused offensively. The Flyers pretty much always had one attacker (the puck carrier) penetrating the offensive zone with the others hanging back. Lindros in particular was dead set on trying to stay close to the blue-line and not get caught out of position defensively.
trudatman
thank you for testing this stuff.
CamKneely
You're welcome. I love to help discover new things in the code as much as I can.
Tex
Has this been corrected in the latest version of NOSE? Or do I need set all my guys def/ovr to 0 still?
CoachMac
NOSE will not correct this. Awareness will be what you set it to be. I do not think this is accurate after watching player behavior in Demo games. Higher Awareness DOES make smarter players. IMO.
