  1. BIOS - Basic Input Output System Actually, I was wrong. Gens allows you to choose a BIOS for the basic system. Though there aren't really much differences. One is pre-TMSS, the other post-TMSS (The Licensed by Sega Corporation Page that pops up when you load a game). Use one from here - http://appnee.com/11-bios-files-collection-for-sega-genesis-sega-cd-mega-cd-and-sega-32x/. Or I would just delete the BIOS and it will use the default built into the emulator. The guy also makes a different version of Gens. Maybe we should try it out? http://appnee.com/gens32-surreal/
  2. BIOS won't do anything. It's meant for CD play. You can either use a Sega CD BIOS or 32X BIOS. Has nothing to do with cartridge play. Go to pingtest.net and post your results here. To make it more fair, maybe pick a server that is in the US to see what your ping is.
  3. We used CRTs under 20" at the LI tourney. Actually most were under 15". They were perfect. Easy to carry, and no one complained about the size being too small. The big ones are too heavy. Also, we got most of them on Craigslist
  4. Worked for me. Maybe something was wrong with the server last night.
  5. Sorry bud! I forgot to email you about this. Glad you posted on the forums. I have the SNES and NES ones, they are awesome. Games run perfectly on them, no issues whatsoever. I got the NES from Krizz's website (Raph posted a link), he's the one that makes them. He's in the Ukraine, but it only took a week to get it. There are some US vendors (you can find them on his website). The SNES one I got from StoneAgeGamer.com, but it was on backorder for a while. I would suggest ordering it from the source, if you can wait the week for it. Then find a torrent online that has all the ROMs and plop them on an SD Card. I would suggest ordering them in folders alphabetically (A, B, C, etc), it helps load the file manager faster. From there, you just pop the SD card into the cartridge, the cart into the Genesis, start it up, the file manager will pop up, and you choose the game and it loads almost instantly. It will keep the game save in the onboard memory, until you choose a new game to play, then it copies it onto the SD card. If you have any battery saves from emulator play, you can actually copy them to the SD card and use them (with a little bit of hex editing, it's pretty simple just padding the end of the file with FF, at least on SNES and NES). The games play exactly the same. You are using the original hardware, so there is no emulation. The Everdrive just mimics an actual cart.
  6. Id like to start Blitz again. I'm just thinking of how I could make it a little more like how it was intended to be. I hate the protect pick idea, I'd like to just make it so you carry over 2 or 3 guys a season. But trying to make it fair is the tricky part. Id probably re-rate every player, since we know some overall ratings are BS. Then maybe put a cap on the overall sum of players you can carry over. For instance if the cap is 200, you could either carry over 2 90 rated players, or 3 players who's overall add up to 200. Or something similar, the idea is to carry franchise players over season after season. I don't know what the participation would be with GDL running nonstop. Sure you could say now you could play in 3 leagues at the same time, but we wouldn't know if that's true until it starts up again. I don't want to take away from classic and skips league.
  7. The Tecmo guys had a side entry fee of $20 for the vets. The cash payout was only for the vets though. It was free for everyone else. Btw I would love to see Plabax play some Tecmo, then complain how the fumbles are random and should be removed from the game because they don't let the best player win and it's not fair.
  8. There were a few that were decent. Some guys did have questions about playing online. We told them to come to the forums and we'd help them out. I did describe what they needed to do to set up and play Classic.
  9. There are some mistakes in that bracket, that the site wouldn't let me correct. Though most of the Winners bracket is accurate. Another interesting note, we had 2 father-son groups playing, and the kids and fathers had the same names. Be original and give your kid his own name (this is coming from someone who is named after their father, too)
  10. Egg was awesome and a big help! I don't know how we could have done it without her! George from the Expo crew was great. I had a good talk with him later on, he really appreciated how we ran the tournament. He didn't have to worry about using any of his volunteers with us, since we had everything set. We would love to go back next year. Shout out to the Tecmo guys, they were awesome! Poor Brian lost the Tecmo finals, I was rooting for ya bud. It's amazing how many Smash people were there. Huge following, all ages. 107 people signed up for Smash, 20 for Tecmo. I saw the Nintendo PlayStation in person, and played AJ in Mario Kart on it (and I won!). My life is complete. Raph used his basement as an excuse so AJ couldn't kick his ass. AJ was on fire. Evan too. I believe Evan was winning 3-0 in the finals when I mentioned he might beat AJ, so I do take the blame There were a ton of people at the Expo. I was really surprised how popular it was. Oh, and a funny side note. Evan put labels on all his controllers and systems. The systems were named after goalies, and the controllers were named after players. Before we started, we allowed some free play. One of the controllers stopped working...It's name was Lindros. One of the systems were not working...It's name was Sidorkiewicz. Our Setup: Yes, that's all people playing Smash Bros. in the background: Vendor Area: Final Matchup - I wanted to take video, but my phone ran out of memory halfway through the first period Nintendo PlayStation
  11. I'll work on this. Opening new pages in tabs was my personal preference, but I'll change it. Appreciate the feedback. Please keep it coming! New ideas are welcome!
  12. Yes, agree with both smoz and Raph on your points. I will add the GDIF, I agree with it being an important stat. Win % and Sv% are standard the way they are displayed across all sports. The ".0" is because of Blitz. 0.5 was given for OT loss, 1.5 for a OT win. I left it in there in case there are future leagues that would use a similar point system. I appreciate the thanks guys!
  13. I made some minor updates: Goalie GAA - This is now calculated properly for Season Stats, basically using the formula: Goals Allowed / ((GP * TOI Average) / Regulation Game Time). The box score GAA has also been updated to display this as well. This has been applied to both Genesis and SNES (though SNES is a little more complicated, due to lack of actual TOI tracked in the game), and all previous leagues' season GAAs have been adjusted. Team GAA, GFA - This has been changed to GA / GP and GF / GP. These are how the stats are kept by the NHL. Link to NHL.com Stats Page. All previous seasons have been adjusted, and All-Time Stats have been adjusted. Also, all pages displaying the stats have been updated to reflect this change. Team Schedule - I made this a little more easier to read (why it took me this long to do this, don't ask). Everyone's schedule has been organized to show all the Home games first, and the Away games last. Both Home and Away games have been listed alphabetically, so it is much easier to see how many games of each you have against another coach. The site is looking a little long in the tooth, and I plan on updating the look of it over the rest of the summer. It will have the same look as the front page of nhl94.com. I plan to make it more mobile friendly. I also need to update the database code, as it is now depreciated, but this can all be done without disrupting any leagues. Once this is done, I do plan on adding some more stat pages, specifically Player Stat pages showing a player's history in leagues on the site, a picture of the player (probably use Raph's pics from GDL ROM) and their attributes.
  14. The first player is the 0 offset. So, in Plabax's example, if it says the 03 for player who scored, it would actually be Poulin and not Oates. If you are making your own stat extractor, the easiest way would be to have the rosters and team order already extracted and saved in a DB. Upload the game, pull all the game stats (SP1, GP1, SP2, GP2, etc), and player stats (G,A, Chks, TOI, etc), using the team order and roster with offsets to pull the right data for the right team/player, then check the scoring summary and penalty summary. When going through the scoring and penalty summaries, you can use the DB roster with offset to figure out who scored, assisted, got a penalty, etc for displaying purposes in the box score. You would also use the summaries to decide if it was a PP or SH or EV goal, type of assist, PIM for each player, and add that data in the DB if you desire.
  15. Congrats Annatar! Thanks guys for getting the playoffs done before the deadline!
  16. - When was the actual release date of the SNES game? There is conflicting evidence on the internets. - How come some rosters are left unfilled? The teams who lost their players to the expansion draft have empty spots in their roster (i.e. NYI only has Healy as a goalie). - Tied into the above question, when did you finish developing the game? How long between completing the game, and the time of release? - How many people were part of the design team? - Did you have experience in programming sports games prior to NHL '94? (I'm giving softies to warm him up here) - How much did you get paid by EA Sports to program the game? Was it worth it? - Have you worked on any other game systems? Which ones were the hardest to code for?
  17. Tru, I'm pretty sure aggression has something to do with fighting, and was just left over from 93. I would like to know if they kept track of TOI (Time On Ice). Genesis does, but I can't figure out if SNES does. Why does the goalie move around like he's just sliding on the ice instead of skating? I feel like I'm playing Pong sometimes. In Genesis, a successful check is more pre-determined (using player weights), where in SNES it's pretty random. How come the difference?
  18. Playoff Page - 2016 Spring Playoffs Deadlines Round 1 - Friday, June 10th Round 2 - Friday, June 17th Round 3 - Friday, June 24th Championships - Friday, July 1st Deadlines will be enforced. FF wins will be awarded at commissioners discretion. Please make sure you have the 99 min. OT Playoff ROM. Schedule your games with your opponent!!! We will make exceptions only if you notify us ahead of time.
  19. I'm all for the merit/demerit system. I think it's a great idea. Classic is different than GDL though, since there is no draft of players, I don't know what we could do to give a bonus for the next season. Better position in team draft? Maybe, I just don't want to be unfair to new players since they would be at a disadvantage with no merits carrying over from the previous season.
  20. Agree with Brutus. Smaller leagues, 2 guys slack, it's magnified. Enforce checkpoints stronger, when you don't have a Wait List, it's hard to do. Usually we take guys from the other leagues in this case, and ask them to take over a team in A, A coach take over a team in B. SNES didn't have that luxury this season. We capped the leagues this season, didn't make a difference. SNES didn't even come close to meeting that cap. We've made the seasons shorter (20 games a few Springs ago), didn't make a difference. Spring turnout has always sucked. I'm fine with not doing extensions. Raph and Hali were against it, I wanted to do it so the guys who were close to finishing their season and have played and met checkpoints throughout had a chance to complete it and not get hurt in playoff seeding. I'm not trying to reward the slackers in anyway. Didn't think there would be so much backlash. We'll try something different next season.
