  1. http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/2012/12/05/bettman-wants-a-deal-by-friday-nhl-insider-nick-kypreos-says/
  2. logging error in TOR-OTT series. games 3 and 4 were not identical, same file was uploaded twice. if that could be fixed, the actual game 4 is logged as game 6. that was my mistake, sorry
  3. sicarius and I played our series on 10/12... 43 days ago. And we still aren't done with round 1.
  4. He can't watch film on the Rangers, so this was the closest thing to it out there.
  5. Looked like a good battle. good effort put forth by the underdogs, but congrats wook next up....
  6. Wow, poor Detroit. That was gonna be a big economic boost for an area that really needed it. This lockout isn't about money, it's about egos. It's about the players trying to stick it to the evil Bettman, and the owners trying to erase the mistakes that they made themselves. There's emotion involved, that's why it's not ending any time soon.
  7. Someone somewhere at some point in time said "If you don't like it, beat them." That just needs to apply to B this season. We've always been tight, a lot of us have been together for a long time in terms of playing in the same leagues regularly. We get our games played and we've always had a good time. But, another thing that needs to be mentioned is that the quality of the players on this site is increasing. I know every season I've been here, the competition's gotten tougher. We've all improved over time. TomKabs and plabax both fit into the category of "quick learners." They started out good, but B league-standard I'd say (from what I remember anyhow). They quickly improved, they left no doubt that they were going to be A-leaguers at some point. But at the time of registration, they were unproven. They weren't widely regarded as A league players until they began to dominate this season's B league. It's easy, in hindsight, to say that this isn't fair. They weren't proven at the time these decisions were being made though. But if everyone's picking up this attitude that these two are unbeatable, then guess who the finals series is going to consist of? Upsets happen. Whining about how good they are isn't going to help you beat them.
  8. Well here we go. The league didn't get exactly what they asked for, they refused to negotiate, and their answer is to cancel an entire month of games. Continuing to try to get the PA to collapse and give in. If they're serious about cancelling the All-Star Game and Winter Classic next week (possible bluffs?), I think you can just about give up any hope of there being a season. Gotta think the Winter Classic would be the last thing to go.
  9. I never hit after the whistle, I like to breathe during that period. Complaining over it is an atrocity though.
  10. Thanks for the congrats everyone. Haha Oklahoma pounding Texas was the reason I did the vids when I did, all worked out perfectly.
  11. I'll take PHI in 5, PIT in 6, then MTL and CHI in 7 in what will be two instant classics. I'm inspired, so I'll take a shot at B... WSH vs TOR (season series: 3-1 TOR) The high-hitting Maple Leafs completed a dominant regular season, scoring and checking at ridiculously high levels. This could be a bit of a tough 1st round matchup for them, however. Playing against a team that likes to slow it down and sit back and play rope-a-dope, the Leafs will have to be aware of the counter-attack and finish their opportunities. In the end, Toronto wins it in 5, but not without some pesty battles from Sandstrom and Co. I will not predict the OTT-TB series (regular season series: 3-1 TB), but expect to see a lot of checking and not a ton of scoring. WPG vs NJ (season series: 3-1 NJ) Very interesting matchup. The Jets have so much balance, with speed up front and mutants on D. The Devils have a lot of firepower up front, and scored 8, 7, and 4 goals in their 3 regular season wins over WPG. Can the Jets find a way to contain Fedorov, Kamensky, and Bondra? In the end, they fall short. New Jersey in 7. Quebec vs St. Louis (season series: 3-1 QUE... 3 OT wins) Very different teams battling in this one. The star-studded Blues and the meat-and-potato Nordiques. Quebec's highest scorer was Trevor Linden, who ranked 11th in the B league with 89 points. So how have they gotten where they are? An insane ability to not lose close games. 8-0 in OT. Their opponent? Well, they have Mogilny, who scored more goals than Linden had points. Their goal differential is outstanding, compared to Quebec who was just even.... But Quebec wins in 6. Because St. Louis will not be winning in blowout fashion, and the Blues are 0-5 in OT, compared to Quebec's 8-0. One team's been battle tested and can grind out wins, and that will benefit them greatly in these playoffs.
  12. Playoff contention predicted, playoff qualification reached. Woot for overachieving.
  13. B's set. Closing in on prediction time... 1. Toronto (Wook) vs 8. Washington (Robbie) 2. Tampa Bay (sicarius) vs. 7. Ottawa (probob) 3. Winnipeg (eggink) vs 6. New Jersey (beavers) 4. St. Louis (iceguy) vs 5. Quebec (Kupuck) A matchups may depend on how the Buffalo situation gets sorted out, I'm guessing.
  14. haha, well it's true.... though worded a bit harshly. it's not the fans' "fault" that the lockout's happening, but everything he says is accurate. NHL relies on ticket sales for revenue more than any other sport, and the league's attendance increased after the last lockout. so obviously, there's no issue about the NHL being hurt by these work stoppages in the long-term.
  15. Certainly wish I could've been there. But like ice said, this could certainly be a step towards that major event we all want to have one day. Props to eggink for making it happen
  16. The Steel Curtain is up in arms at the fact that you just claimed that there's been a reincarnation of them with a team that includes Alexander Ovechkin. Anyway, I'll put 750 on IceStorm and 250 on TomKabs as a dark horse.
