OK, having looked through the lineups, I definitely appreciate the easter eggs. I don't want to name specific ones and spoil it for anyone else, though. That said, I'm curious about the one in Montreal. Or more specifically, how you arrived at putting him in Montreal. Because I totally get why you would put him in here somewhere. Oh, and I should point out that trying to edit lines with line changes on crashes the game but that probably shouldn't have surprised me with the roster setups, haha.

Haven't had time to go deep-diving for all the easter eggs but I'm enjoying this so far. I think the Tuukka Rask photo is my favorite.
  3. To be fair it looks like this is a mod of the original Blitz, which predates the Texans by two years.
  4. I'm surprised I haven't seen this mentioned yet but there seems to be an issue with Adler Mannheim. The team logo on menus is glitched and the game freezes if it tries to show David Wolf's portrait. Is this a known side effect of there being so many more teams, like with the Winnipeg Freeze Bug in the expanded 94?
  5. Having an Original Six team miss the cut feels weird but I get it. Truly, this is a strange year.
  6. Ah, bummer. Good to know, though. Thanks.
  7. The problem isn't lag so much as it just doesn't seem to want to open. Like, it runs fine on Fusion on my computer but it just sits on a black screen when I try running it on ClassicBoy on my phone. And it's gotta be something about the way the 30-team hack for '93 is set up rather than your hack in particular since I've had the same issue with other '93 hacks.
  8. I'm happy to see an update. This has long been one of my favorite ROMs. Did anyone ever figure out why 30-team '93 hacks don't run in certain emulators, though? Or rather, how to fix that?
  9. Honestly I'm just happy to see 95 getting some love again.
  10. I like your idea about mixing the top 6 teams from those leagues. It sounds like the hockey equivalent of the UEFA Champions League.
  11. I grew up thinking Poland was known for hockey because of that game.

I don't think it's just a dead battery because I've had the same issue with emulation but I appreciate the tutorial all the same since I have other games that I know have a dead battery. Thanks.

There's one thing that I've always wondered. Do you have to do something specific to make sure the game saves properly? It seemed like every physical copy I've ever tried wouldn't save but then I also had the same issue on an emulator (where it isn't as big a deal since there are also savestates).
  14. I was of a mind to try some quick tests on them myself since I'm fairly used to using Photoshop for pixel work but everything that's been said about the level of detail is true. They could use more tuning I think, but a storm rolled through as I was working on the Storm.

    I approve this message.
  16. I love a good fantasy ROM. Here are a few quick ideas. A Mighty Ducks superteam combining the actual NHL franchise, the movies, and the cartoon. Shadow team - blacked out sprites. A bunch of punny/joke names, e.g. a forward named Willie Passit, a defender named Noah Fence. I also remember playing some other hockey game (ESPN NHL, I think) that had a parody take on the "hidden playable celebrity" idea. You could play as a Republican or Democrat team but their stats were as bad as you'd expect from a bunch of middle-aged politicians.
  17. It gets funnier when you compare that to the order of the actual team data. The two expansion teams come at the end after Washington, who apparently come after Winnipeg for some reason. And Dallas is again slotted between LA and Montreal, suggesting the move from Minnesota was a late development. The Islanders are properly positioned, though.

Loving the inclusion of Tsujimoto. That's one of my favorite hockey stories. I haven't had time to take more than a cursory glance but I did notice you misspelled Marty Turco's first name.
  19. Alright, maybe "loathing" was too strong but then "dislike" didn't feel strong enough after that SS emblem comment. I'm biased though, since 95 was my introduction to EA's series. YMMV, agree to disagree, and other cliches.
  20. See, that was something that always bugged me about this place. Why do some of y'all have such intense loathing towards 95?

    93 One-Timers

That 8 is the penalized player's number. He only has 32:11 on the clock. Which is still a good 27 minutes longer than intended but yeah. Like I said, the game definitely didn't like having two different lengths for fighting penalties. More's the pity.

    93 One-Timers

I tried doing a two minute fighting and five minute "fighting and losing" penalty once. The game didn't like it. It ended up completely screwing up the penalty clock for the loser. I have some screenshots from that test on my computer at home but I can't get to them yet. Will post later. EDIT: Didn't have a host handy for embedding so those screens ended up as attachments.
  23. For the most part they're pretty plain but I remember finding a few winners when I was looking through the rosters, like DAL goalie Red Duel, DET defenseman Vern Chern, and EDM forward Bubba Dee. SJ defenseman Speedy Greene is probably my favorite. Some of the names have to be deliberate, though, like Joey LeBlanc and Chandler Perry of NJ. Not to mention Wayne Bruce. Teemu Selanne was given the fake name Rick Flash. I also noticed Provinciano himself is playing defense for at least three different teams: CGY, FLA, and MTL.
  24. To be honest, I hadn't tried it in a 30-team ROM yet when I posted last time. Any prior testing I had done was on one of the Minnesota high school ROMs since they use a 16-team limit like what I have in mind. That said, I just did a test game in a 30-team ROM using the last two teams, since their data probably falls outside of the original data block. I pulled up the records afterwards and... No crash but it's definitely buggy. The goals and saves screens also showed incorrect data, though not to that extreme. It merely had me playing with a different team, though my opponent and the number of goals/saves were both correct.
  25. Hi, long-time lurker here with a question. I've apparently long since lost the readme that came with the 30-team ROM originally and would like a refresher about why the user stat tracking option is supposed to be left off. It was something to do with the data for the extra team slots falling outside of the original game's offsets and thus leading to erratic behavior, wasn't it? More to the point, if the number of available teams is limited to the original game's count or less (I've been idly tinkering with a playoff-esque 16-team ROM), would it be safe to re-enable this option? My limited testing with it has gone well enough so far but thought it might not hurt to ask.
