  1. Congratulations on a great season in both A & B! As a reminder, both conference winners are the #1 and #2 seeds, followed by the next best 6 in the league. Minus 2 points for each DNP to get to total points, and then the seeds are by winning percentage. The DNP's did not affect the B league, but for the A league it was why AJ (likely) fell short of the conference win and dcicon missed the cut. Playoffs can start immediately. Best of 7 each series, 2,2,1,1,1 home/away. Higher seed has home ice. I ask that you try and get your series done in a week. If scheduling is an issue, just keep me and the league informed on Discord, PM, Forums, etc. As long as you are active and making and attempt to play your series, there shouldn't be any DQs. It's 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, and 4v5. A League 1. @corbettkb (Dallas) .725 - conference winner 2. @MikeGartner22 (Montreal) .625 - conference winner 3. @angryjay93 (Hartford) .774 4. Schmidt (Buffalo) - .650 5. @kylewat (Los Angeles) .525 6. @AtomicRaven (Detroit) .471 7. @wallywojo (Winnipeg) .359 8. @danTML7 (Chicago) .275 B League 1. @jmj (St. Louis) .750 - conference winner, also went 4-1 in regular season vs Montreal 2. @danTML7 (Buffalo) .700 - conference winner 3. Chris O (Montreal) .750 - lost H2H vs St. Louis for conference 4. @sonoffett87 (Boston) .675 5. @Thrillhouse (Quebec) .641 6. Mr. T (Chicago) .550 7. @AdamWoodrow (Calgary) .514 8. @seventieslord (Detroit) .425 Good luck to all!
  2. Mainly because '95 was completely remade and was terrible compared to '94. At the same time, it's more making fun than "intense loathing". At least for me.
  3. We gave an "H"! So the only letter I haven't seen from A - L is E.
  4. When NHL'94 was released (Sega Genesis), the first editions came with a sticker that said "Limited Edition 1st Round" and had a serial number. Mark Lesser actually has "00001" in his basement, which was seen as part of @McMikey's documentary "Pixelated Heroes". Here's an example of what the stickers look like: I have been looking at these numbers for a while and recently decided to start documenting them because it was bugging me. From the small sample size I gathered (mostly eBay listings), my guess is there were 30,000 Limited Edition copies, however I don't know what the letters represent. Factory seems doubtful given the scattered nature of the numbers. My guess is the letter was some kind of lot size, or shipping destination, etc. So far I have found EDIT: A,B,C,D, (no E), F, G, (no H) FOUND H, thanks Smozoma, I, J, K & L A - L!. Below is the running tally, sorted on the left by number and then by letter on right. If you happen to own a copy or find a number that is not listed, please feel free to reply to this thread! I frequently search eBay listings, so as other 1st editions come up there I will incorporate as well. As of April 11, 2024 Lowest number (aside from 00001) - 23 Highest number - 28,270
  5. Not to be overlooked, @smozoma was the guy who put me in the loser's bracket in KO94-4 with a 2-0 series! LEGGO SMOZ
  6. Thanks for stepping up, but we already replaced Aqua with @danTML7!
  7. From me, you're welcome! Another another thank you from me to all who @Edge of '94 Midwest mentioned above! Now, running tournaments is fun, but it's actually quite a bit of work to make them successful. From promoting, to finding a location, to having the equipment, to creating a livestream, to managing the activity and scoring during the day, to securing prizes, to making it fun...I can go on and on. @Edge of '94 Midwest does this better than anyone. Thank YOU for your time and hard work in promoting this wonderful game and helping out others when you can. You are a true asset to the community, thank you again!
  8. Given I am 4th pick, I get the last team!
  9. So if there are more than 4 coaches available for a given week, how does the draft work? Random, or if the coach played previously, etc? I'll also make it for Dec 1st.
  10. A lot of people use Gens, but we have recently started using Retroarch, which uses Genesis Plus GX. Having said that, even though you are manipulating RAM addresses there is most likely a way to alter the actual ROM that loads those RAM addresses. I know I've worked with you on that with you on some of your previous RAM finds. For example, let's say you have a RAM address such as FF1234 that has a value of "0001". You go and change the RAM address to "0002" and recognize the change in the game. Now, in the ROM, there must be some instruction or set of instructions that say something like "load value 0001 to RAM address FF1234". If we find that part of the game code, you can change the ROM to say 0002 instead of 0001. That way the game will work with your hack on any emulator or hardware.
  11. Welcome bud. Really awesome to hear how you have jumped in and been a positive presence in the '94 community!
  12. Check out @CoachMac's historical ROMs, he is our resident historian and ROM creator! https://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/18009-coach-macs-historic-roms/ As far as making your own ROMs, the NOSE tool allows you to make roster edits very quickly and easily. Graphic hacks take a little more time and effort with Tile Molester, but once you get the hang of it, it's not that bad. Ultimately any ROM will take many hours to complete, without considering the amount of time it would take to rate players. Check out the hacking and editing section of the forums to get a better sense of what is involved, there is plenty of information and a bunch of modders who will be happy to answer questions/help (including me)!
  13. This is very cool, I will try this!
  14. Aqua takes CHI Atomic takes DET Schmidt takes BUF Leif takes BOS @wallywojois up!
  15. Team draft selection has begun! We will have a 10 team "A" league and 12 team "B" league. I weighted the draft in B to give new players a better chance at a high draft pick in B. I did the same with "A" , but just slightly. When it is your turn, reply to this thread to choose your team (or hit me up on Discord). You can choose any team that has not already been selected in your league. I honestly don't think there will be a need for deadlines (haven't ever used them before), but if we go 24 hours without your pick, your turn will be skipped and you will be given best available team at the end of the draft based on the default list. You can also post your draft list in this thread, or PM me your list if you don't want to post your team selections. ON THE CLOCK: A: DONE! 01 - aqualizard - CHI 02 - AtomicRaven - DET 03 - Schmidt - BUF 04 - LeifErikson - BOS 05 - wallywojo - WPG 06 - MikeGartner22 - MTL 07 - dcicon5148 - VAN 08 - zeppelin55 - LAK 09 - corbettkb - DAL 10 - angryjay93 - HFD B: DONE! 01 - seventieslord - DET 02 - Ozmataz_Buckshank - QUE 03 - MR.T - CHI 04 - Chris O - MTL 05 - Boehm23 - VAN 06 - AdamWoodrow - CGY 07 - Dantml7 - BUF 08 - sonoffett87 - BOS 09 - Chefstar88 - WPG 10 - jmj - STL 11 - jer_33 - TOR 12 - Quetzalcoatlus - DAL DEFAULT DRAFT LIST (links are to "Building Lines with AJ" Thread)
  16. I AM GOOD FOR WHATEVER. Live 2on2 is the apex of NHL'94 for me. I assume this would be for exhibition, and not a paid separate entry? If it's paid, I think you have to allow people to choose their teammates ( @Freydey, I'll pay your fee bud). If it's exhibition, then I would suggest "A" guys, or known 2v2 players to be split up. It's such a different game than traditional '94 and, quite frankly, 2 veteran players will absolutely dominate and not make it fun for anyone else.
  17. I think smoz's hack only works for the 30 team ROM, and doesn't quite function with the recent 32 team ROM for some reason with NOSE.
  18. Thanks @Edge of '94 Midwest and @LeifErikson, this looks GREAT and I'm excited about Minnesota! I would love to come and defend my Genesis title, so I will start working out a plan soon!
  19. For A) http://nhl94online.com/html/waiting-list.php
  20. I voted for CRT on original hardware because any other alternative that I've tried in the past (upscalers, LCDs, emulators, etc) simply did not function the same way as console+CRT. I have not tried Mega SG, and I understand everything you said above, but until I actually play on one of these devices, it will be difficult for me to say "ok" to the switch. I also haven't found any of the streams to be impacted by this, or anyone complain that the game video is poor. The only benefit I can see is reducing the needs to lug around many CRTs to events. On that same note though, I have found that when the TV is TOO large (28-32"), you need to sit way back, otherwise it's uncomfortable. Anyway, I look forward to trying this out one day, but until then, I can't vote on switching.
  21. Good luck on your journey. It's a magical place when you start ram searching, tracing and tinkering. The feeling of when you succeed is glorious. I think if you like puzzles, you'll enjoy doing this kind of work. It can get frustrating, but please post any questions you may have. Happy to help if I can.
