Two guys I love that are a bit underrated are Carson and Fetisov.

Neely is a household favorite in my family. My dad used to jokingly pretend to elbow me in the head growing up and yell 'NEELY!'. I agree with Carson for sure. LA has become my favorite SNES team. I haven't played much with Fetisov but I do hear he's underrated,

  2. As the title describes feel free to share who your favorite player is in NHL 94. It doesn't have to be the best player in the game but someone you love playing with whether it's Classic, a draft league, a salary cap league, or exis. If you play both Gens and SNES feel free to post both and maybe why you like that player the most. If you just can't narrow it down to a single player feel free to post your top 3.

For SNES, I'd go with Sandstrom. Yeah, he's a bit slow(4/4 skating) but can check and poke-check most players. He's usually in the right spot at the right time with his 5 o awareness. I also prefer his 5/5 shooting over guys with 6 accuracy. He seems to score a lot of one-timers but isn't the best dangler with 4 stickhandling. Turgeon and Hull are near clones of Sandstrom with different shooting and/or stickhandling.

For Gens, I'll have to go with Bure. I love his blazing 6 speed and being able to dangle(5 stickhandling)goalies out of their skates. Having the 5 o awareness helps too when he leaves the d zone a little early to possibly catch a breakaway pass.

  3. I feel most people use emulators these days especially with the price gouging on original cartridges. There are a lot of reproduction(fake) cartridges out there too that deter people from collecting games.

Then there are those sort of in the middle who buy a flash cart(like krikkz’ EverDrive) where you load ROMs(aka games) onto a microSD card, put it in the flash cartridge, and pop it into the console(Genesis/SNES) to play on real hardware. I believe some flash carts come with the ability to utilize game genie too for those annoyingly hard games.

  4. With Classic winding down and before SDL I was hoping to try out an SDL(SNES Draft League)-style league but using my All-Time Rosters(ATR) ROM instead. Here is the player draft list for your review prior to the draft. I've also attached my latest ATR 4.3 ROM if you wanted to try the players out.

    Some things to note:

    • 12-round non-snake draft with B/A divisional order
    • Each lineup will consist of 6F, 4D, and 2G
    • Each coach will play 2(1 home/1 away) games outside of their division and 4 games(2H/2A) within their division.
    • Single league of coaches split by A/B division where everyone plays each other but playoffs will be split for A/B
    • Post your desired team here or in the Discord channelFirst come, first serve on teams. I'm reserving Boston :). I'm keeping this to the existing teams in the default 94 template(i.e. not updating Quebec to Colorado or anything like that).
    • The team advantages will be the same for all teams just like SDL
    • Penalties on, except offsides
    • Manual goalie
    • No line changes

    Playoffs:

    • Top 6 teams from each division will make their divisional playoffs. Each round is 7 games.
    • The top 2 teams in each division get a first-round bye.
    • Seeds 3v6 and 4v5 will square off in round one. Each round will re-seed. Lowest ranked winner will play #1 seed in round two. Other winner will play #2 seed. Next two winners playin the Championship.
    • If there is a tie in points, most games played will be the first tiebreaker, then overall goal differential, then overall GAA, then overall Save %

Let me know if I missed anything or if anyone had additional questions.

  5. Not sure if you wanted to add my All-Time Rosters ROMs(wgt bug and wgt bug fix) or not. I never got around to updating logos/player portraits/jerseys and realistically probably never will due to lack of time and the knowledge gap. However, the rosters, lines, and teams are all there and it's 100% playable. Looks like there have been 100+ downloads of each ROM. Up to you @kingraph. If anyone in the community wanted to update those feel free to do so. :D

  6. I've always wished I could play the whole EA hockey series from 92-00 with the feel of NHL 94 so I made this project for everyone to enjoy. Sadly, season mode, trades, or create-a-player features that appeared in later games are not present. However, I've compiled the rosters from the various games and made a SNES ROM for each year.

    ROM Notes:

    • Extracted rosters from NHLPA 93 - NHL 98 from Genesis(manually transcribed NHL Hockey (92) rosters by matching the jersey numbers in the ROM with players for that season and team using Hockey-Reference.com) and NHL 99 and 2000 from PC.
    • Some games had a 0-15 attribute scale so I converted to 0-6 to match 94
    • Player Overall calculated using @kingraph’s player calculation
    • Team Bonuses(Home/Away/PP/PK) were set based on their season’s stats
    • Lines set based on top overall players for each team
    • Team Overall for all ROMs updated(except All-Star and Easter egg teams)
    • Trimmed every team in every ROM to 20-24 players(except ANH and FLA which are trimmed down to 18 players) by removing the worst overall players due to byte limitations
    • I did not update jerseys and team colors for any teams in each ROM, except franchise team changes, noted further below
    • Player portraits updated for each ROM(only if they had one in 94)
    • Adjusted menu matchup based on the previous year’s Stanley Cup Final teams

    ROM-specific adjustments:

    • NHL Hockey(92)/NHLPA 93:
      • Re-labeled All-Star teams to Campbell and Wales
      • Updated Dallas Stars to Minnesota North Stars including team name, menu banner, and jerseys
      • NHL Hockey(92):
        • ANH contains the rosters from the Disney Mighty Ducks movies
        • HOL(FLA) is Hollywood Hockey made up of players from Slap Shot, Youngblood, Mystery Alaska, and Goon
        • EXP(OTW) is the Expansion team from my All-Time Rosters ROM
        • SIX(TB) is the Original 6 team from my All-Time Rosters ROM
        • Swapped NHL ice logo for HOL/EXP/SIX. Unable to swap menu logos yet
      • NHLPA 93:
        • ANH contains the rosters from the Disney Mighty Ducks movies
        • HOL(FLA) is Hollywood Hockey made up of players from Slap Shot, Youngblood, Mystery Alaska, and Goon
        • Swapped NHL ice logo for HOL. Unable to swap menu logos yet
    • NHL 96:
      • Compiled top players by overall for each conference for the two All-Star teams as there was no 94-95 All-Star game and no All-Star teams
      • Corrected stick-handedness for many players by referencing NHL 94/NHL 95
    • NHL 97/NHL 98:
      • Updated Quebec Nordiques to Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets to Phoenix Coyotes including team name, menu banner, and jerseys. Ice logo updated to NHL logo(unable to edit menu logo).
      • Additionally, for NHL 98 I updated Hartford Whalers to Carolina Hurricanes including team name, menu banner, and jerseys. Ice logo updated to NHL logo(unable to edit menu logo).
      • Playoff matchups updated where Colorado(Quebec) moved to the Western Conference
      • Corrected stick-handedness for many players by referencing NHL 94/NHL 95
    • NHL 99

      • Updated ASE to Nashville Predators including team name, menu banner, and jerseys. Ice logo updated to NHL logo(unable to edit menu logo).

      • Playoff matchups updated where Toronto moved to the Eastern Conference and added Nashville to Western Conference

      • "All Stars" contains a 50/50 combination of World and North American All-Stars

    • NHL 2000

      • Updated ASW to Atlanta Thrashers including team name, menu banner, and jerseys. Ice logo updated to NHL logo(unable to edit menu logo).

      • No All-Star teams as all 28 teams are being used

    • Team Ranking PDFs are included in this post-Sorted by Overall Team Rating and then by Starting Lineup Rating
    • Roster sheets are here if anyone wanted to use them for Gens or whatever: 92-00 NHL Rosters.xlsx

Yep, menu logos/banner palettes follows the center ice logo section, it's https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArV1f1EnnLgZdElrZ3d0NUFWeGhSMndIQkpNSkRlMEE&authkey=CMSFy4kC&hl=en_US&authkey=CMSFy4kC#gid=0'>here alraedy.

I don't see much sense in investigating in these areas, banner colors can be changed easily in the awesome statto's editor, changing banner text is useless imo (someone might find this useful though).

Menu logos have another section in the rom, starts at D6D7C. If you want to change the menu logos colors, edit values in this location, it's easier and it's not "controlled by the visiting team".

When you rewrite Boston section (let's say to 00 00 00 ...), Boston logo gets blackened no matter what other changes you make with other logos. It's not that easy to understand how it works in the logos section you are talking about (@0E0497). For instance, changes made with LA logo affects Anaheim logo, there are too many variables, too much mess.

Here are the offsets of the menu logos for each team. They are combined with the banner palettes and with the palettes used for intro graphics.

    D72DC banner
    D72FCHartford

    D731C banner
    D733CLos Angeles

    D735C+ banners

Each menu logo contains 32 values.

    00 00 FF 7F

    00 80 FB 02 77 82 7F 03 00 00 E7 1C 29 A5 8C 31

    CE B9 31 C6 73 4E D6 5A 18 E3 7B 6F

Rewriting all of them to 00 makes the whole logo black.

So far I have found values 95, 96 and 99 the most accurate to the yellowish brownish background colors.

Location with palettes for the menu logos background colors would make editing menu logos much easier, have no idea where these palettes are located though.

Hi @DominikJagr would you be able to post the complete offset values for menu logos here like you did with the center ice logos as I don't have access to your Google sheet? I'm using a headered ROM and having trouble following.

  8. I've been experimenting with this roster extractor tool myself. What's weird is the 96 and 97 CSV's spit out G and D for everyone. Forwards are included but listed as D. Kind of annoying but an easy manual fix in the export files.

In the 98.csv I noticed Ray Bourque, for example, has a weight of 6 but in-game his weight matches fellow Bruins teammate Sandy Moger(10) as well as his weight the whole NHL series(10). I'm wondering what other oddities there are. I would love to use the 98 ROM for future leagues but I'm hesitant about its accuracy. What's strange is most of his other attributes seem accurate like O/D-Aware, SHP/SHA and PAS.

I manually transcribed an NHL Hockey(91) CSV from the ROM in NOSE. The NHLPA 93-NHL 95 CSV's seem accurate. 96 and 97 are complete after I changed the various D's to F where necessary. 98 remains the lone issue. If you want I could post the completed CSV's here, which include any 0-12 or 0-15 conversions to the 0-6 94 rating format(not sure what the format is for 95-I can't remember).
