  1. Wookiee recommends: 20 minute periods. 5 min vs CPU is for wussies with no life. Show more desperation! Curse more! Use dirtier curse words! Use manual goalie! Focus on the GA! Don't talk about how many types of games you play and how much you travel, mofape. Don't complain "Should have been a goal" when you shoot a terrible angle one-timer into a defenseman Don't say that NHL 94 caused problems with youth hockey players because you can check. Do you know anything about the history of Ice Hockey?!? http://youtu.be/hE2L69wGMqE Talk more trash about Sidney Crosby. Set up a meeting with trudatman and you guys should jump off a really tall building head first.
  2. For what it's worth, Mav was acting like a child against me during our games yesterday as well. IceGuy (aka RedWingDevil) was also pulling some of this BS against me during our games about a week ago. The question is: what can we do about it?
  3. In other news... Jaromir Jagr has signed with the Dallas Stars. They will be his 5th NHL team and his first team in the Western Conference.
  4. Congratulations to Kingraph, who won the NHL Playoff Pool with 93 points. Thanks to Halifax for putting this together.
  5. Your daughter may be a child prodigy. There is future hope for Team Mexico!
  6. And sometimes, certain people act like sisters.
  7. Simple answer: The Russian Rocket (a.k.a. FlamingPavelBure) is a sore loser. I think there should be a penalty when players leave in the middle of games without any kind of explanation or reasonable excuse. Especially league playoff games! FPB dropped out during regular season games against me when it became obvious that I would win, and I must say that it was extremely annoying. He also logged inflated scores for his home games, because he was trying to break the goals scored record. I told him that I wouldn't confirm incorrect scores and he grudgingly changed them. Dealing with babies who can't take losing and don't follow the rules ruins the fun of playing online leagues. KingRaph explained this situation to me over AIM, and I commend him for being mature and working things out with Halifax in a mature and reasonable way.
  8. Fun fact: Halifax was a member of the production team! I believe he was in charge of video editing and/or mullet trimming.
  9. Thanks Bo. Coffey works on 2 levels, because I like iced coffee too! Hot beer, not so much. More fun with images (stolen from pixelpuck.com), the Chelios Troll:
  10. This is exciting! As a rookie, I'm a little lost when it comes to uploading game files... is there a place that has instructions on that?
  11. Next weekend is Memorial Day Weekend... I'll be at a friend's birthday party all-day Saturday. Not sure of my plans Sunday/Monday, but if the weather is nice I'll be hoping to do some BBQ during the daytime.
  12. I'm putting a bounty on Carse's head. As soon as he has a major concussion and/or broken fingers, I'll be ready to play. SOH, Bo, Witt... I got a case of Pennsylvania Style Lager and a deluxe 6 button sega controller for whoever can deliver. Just kidding. This week is really busy for me at work. Most of my free time will be spent watching the Rangers-Devils games... Carse: can you do Monday or Wednesday after the games? That would be around 11pm EST (unless there's overtime).
  13. I absolutely agree. When I first joined, I was really impressed by the leadership of people who put this all together and make the leagues possible. It's a difficult and mostly thankless job, but you guys really do it well. Instructional videos is a great idea! Bo: I look forward to seeing these!
  14. Yeah, great point Raph. EVERYONE NEEDS TO CONFIGURE THEIR CONTROLLER AS A 6 BUTTON CONTROLLER IN GENS. If you don't do this then there will be a de-sync as soon as you start playing. The same is true of the regular 5on5 playoff ROM or any other ROM with the one-button switch to goalie hack. I use a regular 3-button sega controller, and just didn't program the other 3 buttons.
  15. I just realized that there's an awesome 2on2 ROM with all the current NHL rosters. The classic 2on2 has every skater set to the same skill, which is more of a true test of each user. This ROM has the actual NHL rosters, which allows for some handicap in skill level (pittsburgh is stacked with crosby and malkin) and some strategy because you can choose which player on the roster you want to be. Let's play! NHL12-2on2 Playoffs.bin
  16. I'll probably have a '94 rager this summer. YES!
  17. In my opinion, the biggest thing that anyone could do to help "grow the game" would be to update the homepage at nhl94.com and make it more current and easier to understand for new guys. If someone does a google search for NHL 94, that's the first thing they find. It would also be better to say "check out nhl94.com" than "check out nhl94.com, join the forum, check out nhl94online.com and blitz94.com." When a potential new player goes to nhl94.com, there's just too much information and a lot of it is either out of date or unimportant. For example, just on the home page there's a link to "Swos&Mahavishnu's NHL94 Update: This is a constantly updated version of NHL94 with current teams, rosters, players, and more." The problem is that it's 2-3 years old. Maybe someone can just change that to a link to pixelpuck.com? Also, the "Genesis Soundboard" is cool, but is it really necessary on the home page? In that space, you could put the download section from nhl94online.com. There's a huge amount of information, which is great... but new guys might poke around for a little while and then get either bored or overwhelmed and leave... in my opinion, nhl94.com should be simpler and more focused on pointing people to Netplay. Looking at rosters is fun for a couple minutes, but playing games is fun for countless hours! The "Getting Started" info from nhl94online.com is really helpful, and should have a big link directly at the nhl94.com homepage. Same thing with the "Waiting List" page, so if guys are interested they can leave their info and get emailed before the start to the next classic season. Maybe there could be some kind of yearly league schedule, like this (keep in mind, this is just an example and isn't 100% accurate. It doesn't reflect SNES leagues or things like GDL and Anaheim Mighty Prize League): Then when someone clicks a league name, it sends them to that league's separate homepage. The other thing that I think would really help grow the game would be figuring out how to do Netplay on a Mac.

  19. the maguire / emrick combination is so incredibly difficult to listen to. by far and away, the worst sports broadcasting combo out there. they get calls completely wrong, don't use any intelligent hockey terminology, and just the sound of their voices is very irritating. olczyk is the only guy that is decent, but of course he only says about 5 things per game because emrick talks for 95% of the time (usually about nonsense relating to knifing the puck, skiddering the puck, or just yelling "AAAAWWWWWWW" whenever there's a scoring chance). doc used to be the devils play-by-play guy and they gave him a special night at their arena earlier this season, so i'm sure he won't be biased at all... yeah right. i'm gonna try syncing the rangers radio broadcast tonight and muting my tv.
