  1. Yes you can. Players 3 and 4 can just watch. Totally agree with the above posts, we're using ancient tech to play and even communicate. We use an emulator that hasn't been updated in 10 years, and will likely never be updated. We use an absolutely outdated chat system that will likely be killed off by AOL in the next few years. While I like smoz idea about bundling everything. This is still not a major solution. We need to think of ways to get this game running on android/iOS. I've tested out an emulator on android called "RetroDroid" it's solid as it has controller screen overlays and can play a variety of systems. But the biggest feature is it actually has netplay! Unfortunately I haven't been able to get this working without it desyncing in the first 3 seconds. But if we could run nhl94 on top of a netplay capable genesis emulator on android and iOS then spread the word like crazy through social media outlets and gaming channels we could create a real wave of new players. Now sticking to our current technology one of the biggest hurdles is setting up a match. With modern consoles this is mostly taken care of by the game, you find the game you play and your matched with somebody online. This is almost impossible with 94. In that sense we definitely need a much stronger chat communication system, one where players can post that they are free and available for games. Maybe they would have the capability to simply have their IP up and anybody can join the game for an exhibition. Another idea is to bundle all our nhl94 land with other retro games and create a true super power site of retrogaming sports. Create a community for games like RBI baseball, NBA Jam, badnews baseball, other NHL titles, etc. Again though I keep looking at the barriers to actually playing this game and they are now so great compared to modern games on either console or mobile phones. The gap is progressively getting larger as we have not changed much here.
  2. That's sick. By the way just port forward, Hamachi is just a way around doing that but isn't necessarily at all for p2p. Everybody playing this game in leagues should have port forwarding done. Donny how is the frame rate and response while using wine? I've tried using parallel on Osx running Windows with gens but the controls are just not as responsive.
  3. try going the site and logging in with your browser aim.com
  4. Are you plugged in via Ethernet? What OS? Data timeouts usually happen due to lag spikes. Test your latency by opening command prompt and ping google.com -t See if you have any crazy spikes or if its usually consistent. Also I would suggest adding some smoothing in Kaillera. Try "Always +1 frames" or more. Try a fresh setup of gens + kaillera and see if it persists.
  5. Download it and check? Don't think this needs a thread
  6. Damn man, this is sad news. Do the 94 community a favour and give us some feedback on your experience and why you felt you lost motivation from playing. For one of the top rising coaches in 94 to quit its a tough blow to the community. We need to find ways to keep people playing and keep having fun.
  7. Nice writeup..looking forward to the season!
  8. Some basic keys Aim your passes! Avoid passing when there is high traffic around your player or the pass receiver Avoid passing when your receiver is changing direction Look for open lanes You need to anticipate if your opponent will be able to read the pass, change his player and intercept. If you think he can choose another lane Shorter passes have a higher degree of success. You are much more likely to get intercepted with very long passes The passing rating does have an affect, its not a huge one unless you have an elite passer like Gretzky or a super terrible passer. Most guys are about a 4 rating. A guy like Gretzky can pass straight through traffic around skates and his passing is much faster. Now some players are also terrible at accepting passes, not sure what stat attribute this is related to, but there are definitely some guys that have a high chance of the puck hitting their skate.
  9. (2) drp1zza (2008 (?) - 2010) "NHL94.com Zoo Era" One of the most troubled and deeply entertaining/disturbing individuals to ever have played NHL94 online. To gain a grasp of the absurdity of drp1zza please take a look at the link below. From: Encyclopediadramatica.se Was a part of an NHL94 Online league in 2010 where he became angry at a mod named Sungod after being disciplined for swearing during his play-by-play calling of a game. He was soon after beaten in a league regular season game and was enraged so he posted pain olympics, tubgirl, and the such all over the forums and deleted the league he was helping run. He was banned from the community indefinitely.
  10. This seriously makes no sense. Die altogether?? Thats so stupid, we've done three GDLs in a year. You are one of the sources for the problem, rarely seen you online since the league started. Maybe just don't join instead? Totally agree with FPB. I've been on this site for a decade and can confirm summers are always s**t, people spend time outside and with people rather than at home playing 94. This season has been solid overall.
  11. A post dedicated to the lost souls of 94. We understand if you are no longer playing 94 you are likely in jail, homeless, Tomkabs, on meth, or a drunk male prostitute. We hope and pray for your return to the land of GA. Today's featured lost soul: (1) Donnybrook (2009-2015) A long time staple in the 94 community among the pot heads and 2on2 junkies, donnybrook was always down for a game between the hours of 11pm-4am. We miss you and love you DB, please come home. Disclaimer: This post is satire. All of which is fiction, and presumably fake. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental.
  12. There's literally nobody online these days for games. This is likely because well its the end of summer. 94 usually begins its peak period in October, and all along winter coinciding with the NHL season. Summer months are usually pretty bad, this last month though has been particularly terrible for participation. I agree with Ice, another one in mid to late October should be fine, and it can wrap up by December.
  13. +1 Anybody else get this message if they try to hit "Like This" An error occurredYou have reached your quota of positive votes for the day I didn't like anything else wtga. This error has been there since forever.
  14. its loading crazy slow for me... actually not loading at all.
  15. Trying to get as many games in this weekend. Please let me know your availability. I'm going to be on 2PM-4PM EST, and likely later this evening. And will be on tomorrow. Post here when you can play. AJ, JJ, Ice, Seth, Skip, Darko, LABS, CBK, Zalex
  16. Is it possible to get some more team bsed stat records in here? Random stuff like like highest PP, PK, Penalty shot goals etc
  17. Here's an idea. Let's have a couple of 4 hour windows each week where coaches can TRY to come online and catch other coaches for games. This wouldn't be mandatory and you could just try to appear sometime in the beginning, middle or end. If you guys are open to it lets vote on some time windows. Post here for some suggestions then we can go on to make an actual poll. I suggest Sunday evening 8PM-12AM EST. And Wednesday 8-12 EST.
