  1. Count me in for any CoachMac-run league.
  2. I've now got Retroarch running on an Android Box on my TV. Would be pretty cool if I could get netplay working.
  3. So is your plan to try and include the additional teams in season mode, or just for regular play?
  4. PHI-NYR was an interesting choice in the Finals.. and the Eklund injury early in the game must've been a real heart-breaker. Something to be said for picking teams with very little depth.
  5. Can somebody give me the set-up for the TWITCH stream? I'm assuming the game was captured to a PC/laptop and output on a standard def VGA screen? How good is/was the camera that captures the players?
  6. Read a great account of the 1987 WJC Final game between Canada-Russia, which ended in a 2nd period bench clearing brawl and DQ'd both teams (robbing the Canadians of a medal in the process). Title: When the Lights Went Out: How One Brawl Ended Hockey's Cold War and Changed the Game (Gare Joyce) Lots of great stories about '94 legends Theoron Fleury (CGY), Alex Mogilny (BUF), Brendan Shanahan (STL) , Sergei Fedorov (DET), Slava Fetisov (NJD), Pierre Turgeon (NYI), Glen Wesley (BOS), Valeri Zelepukin (NJD), Jimmy Waite (CHI), Vladimir Konstantinov (DET), Steve Chiasson (DET), Chris Joseph (EDM), Luke Richardson (EDM), Yvon Corriveau (HFD), Mike Keane (MTL), Vladimir Malakhov (NYI), Greg Hawgood (PHI), Kerry Huffman (QUE), Dave McLlwain (TOR), Pat Elynuik (WAS), Evgeny Davydov (WPG). The Russian team was out of the medal-hunt, but Canada had lucked there way into a guaranteed bronze medal, but could upgrade themselves to a silver with a win or a gold if they beat Russia by 5 goals. they didn't have medal rounds like they have now, it was a round robin tournament using wins and goals to rank the teams for medals. It was a chippy game (to say the least), with many possible penalties occurring in the opening period, uncalled by the referee. It has been opined that this lack of 'control' is what allowed the game to get so badly out of hand. The opening goal was scored by Fleury, who proceeded to celebrate the goal by holding up his stick and shooting at the Russian bench. By the middle of the 2nd period, a fight brewed that eventually had all but three players on the ice (Turgeon being one of them) - the refs had no hope to break up all of the fights and did the only thing they could think of. They turned out the lights in the arena. The book's author does a great job of setting the scene, and follows it up with plenty of recent interviews with the players and coaches involved. It was shortly after this tournament that Mogilny defected, and many great Russian players followed. Here's a short history of the incident for those who were too young to have witnessed it.
  7. Good deal guys, thanks. Personal attendance meter has moved 10-15%...
  8. Yeah, a personal list would be a must. Great idea though - one thing that may have slowed down KO94 (beyond having to hunt down your opponent), was often team selection. Would be nice to have guys cross out their match-up picks as well, to avoid playing one twice (if it's in the rules).
  9. If you are picking the teams and playing as the visitor, I would take the list and eliminate any teams that are weak on the road (EDM/PHI/NJD), and be careful in match-ups with STR vs AVE home/road bonuses.
  10. I'd like to report this post for being far too detailed and educational. Who should I address this complaint to?
  11. Since we're trying to make things easier... can we have a page with the rules, coaches (A,B,C), the teams (1,2,3), and include the teams HOME/AWAY ratings? To have that all in one place would make things much simpler.
  12. Guy's taking the whole 'cutting the cord' thing to the extreme.
  13. You were the only one to call a repeat. Congrats bud - if I end up in Vegas, I'll buy you a beer to celebrate. Jer
  14. In, thx Brute/Coach. Sweet rom.
  15. Would be nice to have a few roms for guys to use as starting points, standard, 30-team, pre-set team ratings etc...
  16. Great stuff Coach - nice to have all this stuff in one place. Goalie Stuff: Allow goalies to move further out of their crease (Hex Edit) Y-Button Goalie Hack (6-button, Instant goalie control hack) http://pixelpuck.com/?p=1778
  17. Is everyone using the same versions of kaillera? The download link you've got for gens.netplaysave may have an old version of kaillera installed, which you need to update with the new version from Downloads section of NHL94online. Jer
  18. When we connected for our playoff games, the ping was something like 300+. Didn't want to hold things up - so we played it out.
  19. I feel like it's just the natural ebb/flow of hockey in general - spring/summer is just a slow time. We witness it almost every year - and it's the main reason that Classic is often turfed in the Spring. This community still blows me away. Playing a 90's console sports game, online vs players from around the world, with an extremely welcoming group of players who have torn it down to it's code to allow for draft leagues, updated roms, classic roms, olympic roms. There's even a new way to play in 2v2. The coolest thing though, is that many (or most) of the top players are super accessible. It really is a great group of guys. I think I'll make it my mission this summer to really try and track down some of the vets that I started with (Mind, Witt, Eggink, Dadonch etc..) and make sure that they stop in on DISCORD occasionally to say hello. Who knows, maybe they'll get the itch again. I truly believe that as technology continues to advance, that this community has the people to help push it ahead. My dream would be to have a emulator box, it's own internet connected console on which you could play/chat/stream emulated games all-in-one. Maybe it's a retro-pie, or an android box, but it would be a small inexpensive set-up that should only require being plugged-in.
  20. I've got several Leafs jerseys, but never bothered to get name/numbers on them. Though I would have loved to get a Sundin or Roberts signature back when we lived near Toronto. I did get a kid-sized Gilmour jersey from Goodwill when we lived down there - my kids love it. I've got a Dallas Stars jersey that was given as a gift when I bought my motorcycle in Minneapolis. I also have a beautiful Team Canada jersey from Salt Lake. Today I'm looking at a Centennial Classic jersey, probably Matthews but undecided. ..also wish I could find the alumni 100 jerseys they wore in the Leafs/Wings alumni game.
  21. Good stuff guys, way better than the standard 'blow on your internet cable', or reinstall AOL from the disk.
  22. You are going to do a lot of little things to change your rom, I would suggest getting used to saving your rom with a new name everytime you make a major change. You at least have a backup of the last change made in case anything goes wrong - which can happen. Have fun. Jer
  23. If guys want to be tuned up for Classic and Vegas - then wouldn't you want a league that let you play a number of match-ups? Draft league is still only going to give you a limited pool of players to work with. That said, I'm up for anything especially if it has that A/B league. ETB got it right with the 2 game inter-conference player and 4 game in-conference play.
